...to say I've removed the free MP3 file of 'Rhinestone Cowboy' that I posted on here recently. Sorry everyone, but I believe I was infringing copyright issues by putting it up here.
You see, I didn't make the file myself, I merely bought it off an old friend. I have no way of knowing as to how he came by it (I didn't ask) but seeing as how I've never known him to be even remotely musical I think I can confidently discount him having prepared the file himself. In my view it was a very good BT, which leads me to believe it was almost certainly the work of a professional programmer, and thus I could be breaking several copyright laws by passing on the track to anyone on here.
Charlie was good enough to bring the matter to my attention, and because I've certainly no wish to cause any upset here, I've acted accordingly and removed the offending file.
Cheers all.
Spike Stevens.

Hi Spike.. well how do you interprit copywrite!! usualy something like this is No Problem. for OWN USE! AS LONG AS THE PERSON using it. Doesn't USE IT FOR GAIN or Reward. if it has offended anyone you have done the right thing in removing it. some video's/dvd's books etc may have a warning lable that NO PART shall be copy'd others may say Intended for Own Private use!! i have downloaded stuff from the web that are Genuine tracks with or without vocals/guitar etc. Free!!!.. again you thought it was ok to do so as i suppose most of us would do.. if you got it for free/ or it was downloaded for free. i see NO proplemo!!! cheers lou

Hi Lou, We don't know if it was originally supposed to be free. If it wasn't and the original owner found out it had been distributed for free, he wouldn't be too pleased. Regards, Charlie

Hi Charlie. yup its a catch 22 situation. the problem with these types of files etc, is knowing from where it came?? we all know we can download backing trax for 95p to 5 quid. [royalty's] if you like. i have a legal program to REMOVE VOCALS from almost any song? doe's that meen im legal to use the track!!! i think not.. like a lot of radio stations here in canada, north america. they play 24hr oldie's cuz apparently after a set number of yrs. i think 10. they don't have to pay ROYALTY'S . It's a subject that could be debated for yrs? or unless you are a legal eagle. how doe's one know if its ok to use. if there is no Label saying otherwise.. im sure you have used tracks like this. and don't know from where they originated? its a tough call wouldn't you agree!!! its not like we are making millions selling our own files??? shared... m or otherwise.. how do we know where half the files/tracks we download are of Pirate oregin!!! realy is a tough call... just my 5 quids worth... regards lou...
