Hi All, Here's one I haven't done for a while. It's taken me ages to get it this far. I think there are still bits in it that I want to change. Anyway here it is: www.4shared.com/audio/fSLtyyic/FBI.htmlAll the usual comments please - good, bad, tone, playing, other, etc. Kind regards Roger

Hi Roger, Good sound and well played. I think a few notes in the verses are slightly different. The second line you are playing as C-D should be A-D. You did a good job with the lead break. Regards, Charlie

Hi Roger,
Very well played with a very good tone. The notes Charlie has commented on (C instead of A), I've heard someone else playing it the same way. I'm wondering whether there is another Hank version out there played that way?, or if there is a backing track with a guide lead played that way?
Kind regards,
Chris

Hi Roger,
It certainly was a different version to the original. The BT sounds a little like the one I have which is from a JAM CD and booklet. Where did you get it?
I thought that you played the piece well. Yes, some of the notes were a little different from the original but I didn't hear any off notes or wrong-uns, whatever you want to call them. I thought the tone and overall sound was very good and I enjoyed listening to your fine effort.
Cheers, Len

Hi Chris, Charlie, and Len,
Many thanks for your kind and valued replies and for pointing out my wrong note error (C-D instead of A-D). This is amazing as I had no idea it was wrong. I learned to play FBI (by ear) within a few weeks of the shadows first recording it back in the early 60's. I continued to play it for about 3-4 years on stage with my group (or band). Since that time I have played it on and off over the years, and it wasn't until I posted it yesterday and received your replies, that I found out that I was not playing the right main verse notes. Nobody else in all those years has ever said anything. I thank you all for pointing it out. It just goes to show what a fantastic website and members you have Charlie. I will make a correction and re-post again when the muscle memory in my fingers has been re-learned.
Thanks again.
Len: The BT is from the UB Hank CD 1.
Kind regards Roger

Hi Chris, Charlie, and Len Another go with FBI. Hopefully this time with the correct notes (in the main verses). Brain and finger muscle re-training has taken place. www.4shared.com/audio/p1aHNiOf/FBI_2.htmlIs this one any better (fingers crossed)? Any sort of comments please? Kind regards Roger

Hi Roger,
It certainly is better, it really is a nice sound you've got, and well played. Join the club with regard to finding out you've been playing wrong notes on a number you know so well and played so many times since the 60's (I'm up to 3 and still counting ;D ).
Kind regards,
chris

Hi Chris,
Thanks for listening and your comments. I've got a feeling there may be a few more wrong-uns lurking around in my collection.
Kind regards Roger

Hi Chris,
Yes, you wouldn't have been the first one to have played Shadows numbers with a different note here and there. This reminds me how I have often found wrong notes in Shadows tabs off the internet. It is so easy to not pick up small differences that do not sound that "odd" but much easier when they sound completely wrong. Your earlier version wasn't in that category. Your second version sounds more "correct" now but as I said earlier, it didn't sound completely wrong before. Thanks for taking the trouble to re-post it.
Cheers, Len

Hi Len,
Thanks for your reply and comments. I too have noticed wrong notes posted on the Internet. There have been times, when I have spent ages trying to play the number like the version I have found, only to find out in the end that it was wrong and I was playing it correctly in the first place.
We carry on learning, looking, and listening don't we....... that's the fun.
Kind regards Roger
