They both sound very good but I think the Strat is slightly closer to the original, it sounds fuller in the high mids than the Burns. Regards, Charlie

Hi Ian, to me the Strat sounds a lot clearer and cleaner sounding than the Burns. The Burns sounds at times to be a bit muffled and distorted if thats the right words, although I prefer muted section played on the Burns better than the Strat. Regards Tony

Hi Ian, Sort of similar but I hear a distinct difference. I hadn't realised the pickups on your Strat weren't the originals. I remember you mentioning the iron gear pickups a while back, they sound good (at least the bridge pickup I heard sounds good . Regards, Charlie

Hi Ian On listening to the two side by side I can hear a definite difference between the them. To my ear the strat sounds as Charlie said closer to the original, and for me has a clearer more bell like tone and a richness in the lower strings that I don't hear in the Burns. I enjoyed your playing on both and if you hadn't posted them side by side I don't think I would have noticed any difference.
Regards Ian

Hi Ian
Two nice posts there, well played !
I prefer the Strat of the 2 although the Burns has a really good "sound" as well. What differences did you find when you fitted the "Iron" pup's from the standard ? I also hear the "richness" that has been mentioned in your Strat.
Loved the bt, never heard it before, it sounds a lot different to the UB Hank one I have
Cheers
Dick.

Hi Ian,
I listened to both of these several times and I think I agree with Charlie about the differences though they are both excellent recordings. I think the Strat sounds closer to the original. The Burns always sounds a little more "Nasally" to me; a thicker sound. But I am no expert and certainly don't have Charlie's ears. So I'd listen to him. However, since we seem to agree in this instance maybe you can listen to me too - if you want. ;D
Cheers, Len
