Apparantly Tony Peluso the guy who played that memorable fuzzed out solo on the Carpenters Solo died in June aged 60yrs. I loved this solo, so some time ago I recorded a soundfile incorporating it on an instrumental version so thought I just post it. www.4shared.com/audio/RxvyJ5Hy/Goodbye_to_Love.htmlTony

Hi Tony, Superb in every way. Great distorted soloes too, possibly an improvement on the original, although it might have been seen as too ahead of its time if done that way back then. I didn't know that Tony Peluso had passed away and sorry to hear it, he was about the same age as myself according to your info. Correct me if I'm wrong, didn't Tony Peluso play a 335 on that original track? Regards, Charlie

Hi Tony, I remember Ken Bruce talking about Tony Peluso's death on his Radio 2 morning show. As a tribute he played Goodbye To Love and some of his other work as well. A great loss.
I enjoyed your sound file very much. Some great tones and nifty finger work going on. Lovely sound Regards Graham

Hi again Tony,
Extremely well played mate!!! Distorted solo was great sound and tone. Everything absolutely perfect, I really enjoyed it. Bet your now addicted to your TVS3 eh? Did you get the Youtube 'I Believe' sorted out? You must, as the other members should have a chance to hear it (and see your happy face)!!! Incidentally, are you playing your MIM on this, or could I be correct in thinking it is a Custom Shop?
Rgds - Clive

To Charlie, I agree it was ahead of its time and did'nt get chance to learn it for many years later after I finished gigging, thanks for your very nice comments. To Graham, Johan, Lawrence and Joeboy, thanks very much for the comments. The Bt came originally from a midifile I was given some ten years ago from a friend and it lay dormant until I played it through a Yamaha PRS 2000 keyboard awhile ago. I just muted the synth solos and in the midi and left the rest. It just lends itself to a full instrumental. To Clive, actually I did it on the BR 600 with a Pocket pod for the distortions. The 'I Believe' you ask about is still on youtube but with the reference removed if you understand me. Regards Tony

Hi Tony, Brilliant piece of guitar work there Tony. I especially like the sweep picking bits. That takes a lot of practice to get that going. I found your work on that one quite exceptionally. I thought I was listening to Steve Vai as far as the technique was concerned, or someone like that when I first heard it. I really enjoyed listening to your rendition of that great Carpenters number. I have downloaded their version too and will continue listen to both. The guitar work on your version is better I think. I think this demonstrates how guitar playing is still evolving. Sweep picking didn't become widespread in rock/pop until Eddie Van Halen's 'Beat It' solo as I understand, though Chet Atkins and others used it earlier in other genres. Thanks for sharing that. Regards, Len

Excellent recording Tony. Like Charlie I was not aware Peluso had passed away so young. A great tribute.

top class playing and sounds -
Paluso was some talented guitar player - dont think his solo on Mr Postman has been ever surpassed for style and tone -

Hi Tony I love your version. Brilliant Work and great sounding !! I love all those Tony Peluso Solos he played during his work with the Carpenters. The "greatest" solo in my eyes was his solo in Jambalaya. www.youtube.com/watch?v=xmsVQ9Prg4IWhat a great sound and country guitar playing. Unfortunately I only know his Carpenters work. Maybe anybody in this forum knows what he has played beside the Carpenters. As far as I know he was a studio-musician, so there must be many other solos anywhere !? Best wishes Bernd

Hi Tony,
Very well played! Great choice of tune. Nice guitar works, I particularly like your arpeggio and sweeping techniques at the end of the song.
