Hi Its like all things in music. Go for the best you can afford. The smaller units will sound good but the larger units will sound better. If you can pay over the £200 the head and cabinet takes up more room. The 12" speaker in the cabinet is amazing and has greater headroom for a clean sound at volume. Don't be mislead by the 4 watts its very loud but it looks and sounds really GREAT, really nice Vox tone. I love it !! let me know how you proceed. George. NOTE ADDED To keep the volume down the amp is switchable between 4 1 and 1/4 watt.

I agree with George, the AC4 is an ideal amp for home use. I have the AC4 tv8 and the 8" speaker is adequate for practice although I do find it lacks depth at full volume and a bit distorted (4w or 1/10w min) , but when played through my aC15 cc1x Alnico blue 12" it sounded so good I am going to get the seperate cab for it and sell on my AC15 and hopefully Fender Twin Reverb with JBL's.
Mike.

Not a valve amp but I have just bought a Roland street cube with twin speakers. I am really impressed with it. Never going to sound like my bigger valve amp but it has everything you need. Headphone socket, stereo line input for ipod, guitar input, mike input, bass mid and treble adjustments and various cosm amp models.
