Hi All, Can't compete with the snow etc (or the cricket .. ), but this is a video I did about 3 weeks ago (with cameo appearance from my wife). Added a backing from Tony Kiek and me. ;D Quite an event here as many children have never seen rain or the river like this.
Wagga Wagga (and most of NSW) has just emerged from 10 yrs drought to a season of floods. For a while the farmers were ecstatic thinking they would finally have a debt paying bumper crop. Now, even the harvesting machinery is trapped in the sodden fields and all the crops are ruined.
The video is of a local Caravan Park in the middle of town on the Murrumbidgee River called "Wagga Beach". In the video it peaked at 8.7 Meters. This week we have more rain and parts of Wagga Wagga (population 65,000) are preparing for evacuation. The current flood is expected to reach 10.2M on Monday ! The interesting thing (as long as you are safe !) is that the weather is fine, humid and Sunny with no sign of flooding ... but the flood peak is slowly moving down the river, inundating all the low lying areas. Flood warnings for towns down stream are for weeks in the future. So different from the usual short term flash flooding. Fortunately we are out of town and well up in the hills, though I now spend a lot of time on the tractor (with front end loader) repairing the road as it is washed away after each new rain storm. Not much time for guitar playing. Forgot to mention the temp today was about 31C. cheers George

Hi George, your floods help put things in to perspective but I'm still sat here with 2ft (600mm) of snow outside. Today is a little warmer at 2 degrees and there are signs of it beginning to thaw. It's still going to take quite a few days yet before we can get the car out of the drive.
You can tell how bad the weather has been here in the UK because of the amount of activity on the site.I doubt it's ever been as busy.Everyone is sat at home on their computers because they are unable to do things outside.
Regards
Les

Weather also plays havoc with tuning!!! With the temperature swings we get here, I have to tune up almost every time I pick up the guitar BTW I use a Rebel quartz guitar tuner

the thing i have noticed with the bad weather and it is in tony`s vidieo as well is how you see more people about. i coudnt work all last week because of the snow and ended up decorating the kitchen. i had to walk to the local shops for what i needed to buy, and meet people i had not seen for a long time. in one shop there were 4 people i new and not met for a while the atmospere was great. makes you think what it was like before we all had cars. peter

Well people, the snow has finally hit central Ontario, my son has been digging out since 6am this morning in Alliston some 55 Km north of Toronto, an initial 60cm and the snow is not letting up, after he cleared the drive another 3 inches came down while he was in the shower, needless to say the roads are impassable in the area presently but the plows will sort it out in the next 18 hours.... worst is yet to come according to our weather guru's so my son and another work colleague brace themselves for much more digging. All the best Steve
