Hi All,
I remember a post on the old site about the type of picks Hank uses and also a picture of one. I would like to try them out of interest.
I know they are red and I think the name was Tortex. I have tried to find the thread on the archive but with no success, probably got deleted during the site changeover.
Also I don't recollect seeing them in any music shops? perhaps someone could tell me what type they are exactly, and perhaps where I could get them? I live in the West London area.
Best regards, Baz.

The last I knew it was George Dennis Sharp 1.30. I know this because I have one of Hank's picks! I don't know if he ever used this particular one but it doesn't look brand new. Before that I think Hank used a Dunlop pick called a Jazz II or Jazz III, or something like that name. Regards, Charlie

When I first saw this post I thought Ooooo this could be interesting, and after reading them all I decided that the picks I am using were as good if not better than any on the market, Has anybody tried the "Awe in One" picks from www.stringbusters.com/index.htm, they are no money to speak of, you can hold them very lightly and they do not slip, Just thought i'd share this "discovery" with the forum. After reading the post about Hank's picks yesterday, I did a search for the George Dennis picks and found them available in two UK shops.
I followed what I thought was the instructions at one of the shops, ordered ten picks and went to the checkout. The postage for 10 picks was £23.50.
Realising I must have done something wrong, I checked back but the sites software wouldn't let me make any changes. Finally I had to remove all the cookies from my PC before I could start all over again with the orderering. What I had done was clicked the wrong location button, I had clicked on a button that said UK Mainland (Islands) when I should have clicked on the UK Mainland button which was a bit further down the list.
I guess it'll teach me to read thing through things properly in future and not be in such a hurry. Hopefully my picks will be here in a few days and I can give them a try.
Cheers Barry

What thickness did you opt for Barry?

The thickest I could get, the 1.3s.

Other question - Where did you buy them. I keep getting MB distribution, but no checkout!

Thanks for that Ray. I have just found a couple of Dunlops in different sizes (old ones that were my son's), so I think I'll give them a try. I have been using Fender mediums, which I quite like.

It was MB Music on the same link as Ray listed.

The George Dennis (Hank's) picks arrived safe and sound from MB Music this morning.
They feel comfortable to hold, a bit smaller and more pointed than I'm used to but I'll give them a good try tonight to see how I get on.

Barry, if they are too pointed for you all you have to do is rub 'em on a carpet, to sort of wear the point off, I treat all my picks like that , it also keeps them nice and smooth to aid fast smooth picking, cos i'm the worlds worst when it comes to fast picking, LOL Cheers Brian
