Part of my recent bedtime reading is "The Story Of The Fender Stratocaster" and looking through the pages and pictures I noticed some of the tremolo arms varied.
Most tremolo arms have the last couple of inches angled upwards, pointing towards the strings. In quite a few photographs, the strats had tremolo arms that pointed downwards, away from the strings. It looked as though a left handed arm had been fitted to a right handed guitar. One of the photos with the different arm was of Mark Knopfler, page 93. There's also a picture of a beautiful Fiesta Red, 40th Anniversary model in a glass case which made £32,000 at auction on page 66. This also has an arm bent away from the strings.
I just wondered if anyone had tried using a tremolo arm bent "the wrong way" and how it felt?
Cheers Barry

Given a choice I would prefer it to be slightly angled towards the strings, the straighter the better for me. Regards, Charlie
