Hi All
As there dosen't seem to be a suitable replacement for my desktop Tonelab,I was considering maybe getting a Vox Valvetronix of some description.
I can't use it miked up because of neighbours but,I believe some of them have a Line Out socket which cuts the speaker and allows you to record from it?
Does anyone know if this is true, and if so,can you recommend which model I should go for.
Any other suggedtions to resolve my problem would also be appreciated.
Many thanks
Alan

You have already answered your question Quote:"I can't use it miked up because of neighbours"
This leaves you with some options.
1: Using a DI box (Direct Injection) to match your mixer/soundcard input and then use a software amp sim like Guitar Rig 3, Amplitube, N.I. AC combo, Plex or Twang sims.
2: Use one of the many flavours of Line 6 Pods, I myself use one and have had excellent results (IMHO) I use the POD XT PRO mainy because of the many ways of connecting it all up including SPDIF etc.
3: Buy the amp and put a power soak between it and the speaker/s to reduce the volume to an acceptable level.
Hope this helps.

Hi Alan, I use the Vox AD50-VT. It certainly does have a line-out socket, and even better, it has a handy little control on the back which lets you adjust the output power from 1 watt to 50 watts.

Wel,there are certainly some options there guys, let's take a closer look.
I use Sonar and already have Guitar Rig full version but I don't have much success using it.
I used to have a Pod,one of those Red Kidney shaped thingy's but IMHO it didn't give very good sounds.Maybe they have changed now,I will look at their website for some demo's.
I also had a Vox CC1 when they first came out,but had to sell it due to annoying the neighbours,he,he.

Without trying to bump up my soundfiles, for info all of my soundfiles (With one or two exceptions) here and Shadows Music club Perth are done with the POD XT PRO you may feel it has some uses..................
Cheers

The US ToneLabs are without power supplies. There are a couple of other in Europe, but the prices are getting really silly.

Agreed, the more scarce they become, the higher the price goes, which I suppose is to be expected. The other alternative is to use a POD,but I don't know anyone who uses one,or can give an opinion first hand. USA models are fine but when you factor in the carriage cost and the customs and VAT (15%anyone?)the price becomes unreal. Thanks for the replies so far.

I know I am probably a bit biased, but the modelling amps are quite good. As I said, the AD50-VT has the ability to roll the power output from 1-50 watts, and the sound is quite good. I normally use the AC15, but I have been experimenting with the AC30TB sim. and that does sound really good. Plus, it will take headphones or a Line-out.

Hi Guys
Don't know if anyone would know the answer to this but here goes.
Which would be better for recording (D.I) Vox Valvetronix or Vox Tonelab (Desktop Version)? I suppose I should also add,or dosen't it matter which one?

For me it has to be the Valvetronic Amp.
But then I am biased cos I've got one for sale ;D
