Hi Barry, or rather G'day mate ;D. as far as the block for the Aria goes I have had no luck as yet, Fender ones yeah, no problem but who in their right minds plays Aria not having delved into blocks and trem things that deeply I am a little lost as to which way to go, The Blackstar, well I had to quit rehearsals the other day cos I was ill, really B****y ill, even had to give a gig away on Friday evening, now that hurts the old pocket mate but before I finished I was thinking, to myself of course the sound I have now is really nice, with my mids and lows just starting to break up with lovely gain, now I dont like gain , especially the one that the amp gives me and they call it "lead" no, I like clean but with a hint of gain when picking harder, if that makes any sense to you, I am really looking forward to recovering and back to the practice room to finish up setting up the Blackstar pedal, Ron has got his now and seems initially pleased, although our requirements differ somewhat, I use mine mainly live but I will also shortly be using the "emulated output" for some recording. that is about it mate, unless you have a spare heavy Aria block lyin around ha ha haaaar. and I spect your still bathin in sunshine now as well , and heres us with snow !!! cheers. BTW...not Welsh.......I are English thro and thro.......In fact Cheshire..........ha ha haaar Brian

NOW brian if its a strat type trem, assembly the string spacings are the same Its just the threads [the 3 c/sunk screws holding the block onto the trem base thats different,if yours is what i think it is Iwill be as most jap copies squiers etc etc & these screws are 4mm metric as opposed to 5/32 whitworth on the US strats.. If I lived next door I could tell you & help you-out ,but I am down here in OZ ,and that makes it difficult, but where there is a will there is a way.. I will send an email... G'day AussieB
Now mate, is this a record for "smilies" I count 11 in your last msg.
Just wondering about the trem block thing ? My strat is a Mex 60th anniversary, (54 style I think) do you think there is any benefit in changing the standard block ? it looks like cast steel to me.
Hope the sun is still shining down there (it usually does)
Cheers
Dick
ps geordies do it with 1 smilley

HI,,Dick ...whats a ''geordie'' .. on your fender it probably has a steel block [does a magnet stick to it] THE squier's & other copies usually have die-cast light blocks & there suffer from attack&sustain..& they weigh only 4ozs or so... Dick the way to really tell is to ''weigh-the block'' if its as my US strat it will be aprox 7.1/2, ozs..& should be ok.. BUT I read somewhere years ago that the [leo, fender's] had a solid steel 10ozs block,But of course they also had very very heavy strings 54's etc? ?? I am certanly no expert on the subject but do know how it helped my squier ,& also my US by fitting 10ozs blocks.. IF you have your strings off at sometime remove the block & weigh it... no smileys at all Dick , but all the best to you mate................................barry.. ps YES THE SUN IS ''SHINING''

G'day Aus Oh Dear me Geordies, (for our southern hemisphere cousins) are from the NE of England around and about the area of the city of Newcastle. This city is where dear old Hank came from, though he seems to have been be lost in Aus for quite a while now ! I'll weigh the block next time I change the strings Barry, there's been a lot of talk about trem blocks recently & opinion is very polarised about the benefits or otherwise. Keep smiling Dick. ;D

Dick,
I'm not sure if Brian's classing you as being from the Scottish Highlands is a compliment or not.
For those who do not know what a Geordie is, take a look at any Newcastle football match on telly. The Geordies are the ones stood topless in the terraces, even when it's snowing, blowing a howling gale or pouring with rain.
I always thought it was because they were hiding their Newcastle shirts and pretending to look impartial.
Cheers Barry
