HI charlie ,,I have tried out the new patches & can say they sound much more ''analog'' [thicker] than the ones in the m/stomp , to my ears at least my main patches that I like are the 10-17 emtc2 patches & I think you mentioned some modification of these would you mind elaborating on this .. if not no worries I'll wait until you finish the mods .. I like patch 30 & 31 very nice depth of echo especially 31 .. In this patch set there will be something for everyone & for any tunes as well I am sure after only briefly listening to most of them .. WELL I can honestly say that they were well worth my wait to obtain them.. cheers from''OZ''

Hi Barry, I am going to try to improve the Echomatic 2 programs, hopefully in the next few days, at last. All customers who have the new patches will be sent an update file and I will also announce the update on this site. Regards, Charlie

Hi Charlie
I have as you know a Q2 with EFTP,I have been reading these threads regarding your new patches.Would I get any great benefit from upgrading in your opinion?and how would I go about loading them?I seem to remember on the old site some talk of being able to re-program a Zoom RFX 2000 with new patches from you,I don't know if you remember but we talked about some problems I had with corrupted patch's 18 being the one that springs to mind.If this is possible apart from buying the new files what else would I need to do this?
regards
Martin

Hi Martin, I wouldn't advise anyone to replace their Q2 programs with the new ones. The new ones are a trimmed down version and probably don't sound any better. I am still trying to improve some of them. I have never updated the RFX patches with new ones. I don't remember the problem with your program 18, but if the RFX was already programmed with EFTP then it can be repaired with a data file that I could send you, but you will need the correct USB to MIDI adaptor, or I can re-program it for you if you are within the EEC. Please email me for more details. Regards, Charlie

Hi Charlie
Thanks for the advice regards the Q2 patches,as to the RFX 2000 I'm not surprised you don't remember I looked at the e-mail I had from you at the time and it was dated back before you started the old site (and some) you reccomended I sent it back for you to reprogram then but I got the Q2 and it slipped my mind.Would I need the disc that was supplied with the unit at the time? and as a complete novice where would I get the correct USB to Midi adapter?
regards
Martin

Hi Martin, I recommend the Edirol UM-1EX as it sells for around £30 and comes complete with 2 MIDI cables. I have never used a USB to MIDI adaptor myself as I still use the older type adaptor that connects to a MIDI compatible soundcard's gameport. You wouldn't need the disk as the RFX-2000 editor program can be downloaded from the Zoom Japan site. In fact, the version on the disk won't install with XP (although it could be installed manually, but much easier to download the later version)
Hi Barry, The Q2 programs are fewer in number (doing away with all the programs that weren't really needed, doing away with tap tempo echo programs, and I tried to simplify some programs to make them sound less processed in answer to a criticism I saw a while back, without losing the correct echo sound (although I was happy with them for 10 years!). The ones I really want to get better are the Echomatic 2. Most of this is to do with the EQ settings for the echo signal. I will send updated files to everyone and announce it here when I have sorted it.
Regards, Charlie

GOODONYER,,CHARLIE, I have not had or heard your earlier patches for Q2 but I know I have read good talk about those original one's ,any way well see when they are ready .. The edirol works ok on the Q2 & I found that the ''CME'' U2 midi-cable worked ok for the zoom..,on the zoom you must have in & out connected? ... CHEERS FROM ...OZ..

Hi Barry, I have always had to connect both MIDI cables when connecting the Zoom units. Seems like they need to communicate in both directions. I think the difference between different adaptors is the speed, and the drivers for handling larger sysex data files. Regards, Charlie

Hi Charlie
I ran through all the patches on the Zoom over the week end, there are definitely 2 patches that are horribly wrong.Just an observation but should the 3 red lights on either side of the effects knob be on for all of the patches that are loaded,as I notice that they are all on for most of the loaded patches that sound the really good.Excuse the question but I just want to be sure that there are no other patches corrupted.
regards
Martin

Hi Martin, The 6 red lights indicate that the Extra Bank is in use for that program. The programs that use the Extra bank are 01 to 25, and 35 to 37. Regards, Charlie
