Hi everyone, After watching the Wizard of oz again one wet afternoon !!! (it's a sad life i lead sometimes) i couldn't get this tune out of my head so i thought i would record it. The equipment used was: an early Squire strat slightly modified (my favourite guitar), Zoom RFX 2000 with Charlies patches, Line6 Pod X3 Pro, the backing was all done using a Technics KN5000 keyboard. I hope you enjoy listening it's far from perfect but something a little different... www.4shared.com/audio/dCRPaxgN/02_Over_the_rainbow.htmlMalcolm

Hi Malcolm That sounded great, well played and lovely tone. Nothing wrong with watching 'Wizard of Oz' either The Technics keyboard sounded very good too. I have a KN800 Technics, sadly neglected as I seldom play it and never could play it well anyway but it still works. Best wishes Rosemay

Hi Malcolm! A very nice version of "Over The Rainbow" with great playing and a really sweet tone. I thought the backing sounded very good too. As Rosemary said, nothing wrong with watching The Wizard of Oz at all. I have two versions of it on DVD, the original one and the one synchronised with Pink Floyd's album "Dark Side of The Moon" Thanks for sharing this with us Kind Regards Chris

Thanks Rosemary & Chris for your comments,
I must admit i'm certainly no keyboard player and just enjoy learning as i go along regarding the backings that i do. I found that some songs work and some don't instrumentally, (as i presume the Shads.found) the only thing i find is that sometimes the backing can become too clinical with perfect timing, so what i tend to do is wipe the drums out and add them manually, that way any imperfections in the timing can sound more natural. Thanks again Malcolm

Hi Charlie Thanks for your comments, yes i particularly look forward to adding second guitar harmonies on to a seperate track when i've finished a recording, as simple as it sometimes sound's it can be very difficult to get right at times! Thank you, Malcolm

Hi Malcom, I listened to your first posting, then this one. The recording level is much better, (the first one being a bit quiet). A very nice sound you have, a good arrangement and you played it beautifully.
Regards, Graham (keep em' coming)
