There's also a great version of Civil War, albeit Miles Kennedy fluffs his words slightly, from the same acoustic session. It shows what a good player Slash is, even without a CryBaby and Marshall stack.
You can see the whole session on YouTube, well worth a watch.

I have posted a few videos on my Facebook page for friends to see.
However, I don't want to have to do a video every time. So I was wondering about posting some soundfiles. I'm sure I can't post them directly on FB, so would need to host them somewhere else and put a link on FB.
So far, I have thought about Soundcloud. Has anybody used this or posted soundfiles on FB.
If so, what did you use.
Thanks, Tim.

Steve,
I've always been a fan of PRS guitars, finally got myself a PRS SE Custom 24. Gorgeous purple quilted finish, plays a dream.
Even better, when I got it home found it was a limited edition finish of only 200 worldwide.
It's my goto guitar for most things except Shadows stuff.

Hi Glen,
I never really found one that did everything I wanted, so working in IT I built my own.
However, if you have an iPad, there is an app called One Track which pretty much does it all.

My Griffin StudiConnect has finally given up the ghost, so I'm looking for an interface for recording on my iPad2.
My audio output is stereo out of my mixer, the only interface I've found so far that will accept a stereo input is the Line6 Sonic Port ( not the VX model).
I currently use an iPad2 running iOS 8 (not updated to 9 yet).
Does anybody use this same set-up and, if so, what do you think of it.
Thanks,
Tim.

As Steve said, they don't actually do anything. IPads are locked down tighter than Windows PCs, so the scammers are just trying to frighten you.
I've had a couple, just clicked through them with no after effects.
For all that frustrating with iPads, i.e. Having to use iTunes to get music on, etc.., this is one area I appreciate.

Janus,
Agree with Len, you can't go far wrong with a VT20+. I absolutely love mine. Good AC30 tones, but if you play anything else, it's got some other great tones hiding in there.
It can be a bit tricky to get to grips with the controls, but it's a great amp.

Alan,
Although it would be possible with a tape-based camcorder, it's probably easier with a digital version. You will need some way to convert the analogue tape to digital.
I use my Panasonic Lumix FZ200 digital camera to record myself. Have a look at some of the digital compact cameras, many now include a decent movie mode.
The other thing I found is that it's better to record the audio seperatly and sync them together later when editting the video.
What equipment you will need somewhat depends on whether your using Windows, Mad or tablet.
I use an iPad for my audio recording and all video/audio editting.
Hope this helps,
Tim.

Carl
How do you start/stop your tracks at the moment.
The only reason I ask is that the One Track app supports Airturn pedals. I have the 4-pedal BT-105. You can assisn the pedals as you like, for example:- Start Track, Stop and Rewind, Volume Up/Down. It's quite versatile.

Must admit I get the same feeling with my iPad2. I have avoided upgrading to iOS9 because I don't think my iPad2 will like it.
This unrelenting race forwards which leaves older hardware in its wake is one of the reasons I ditched my iPad and went back to my trusty modelling amp setup.

Noel,
Agree you can just copy CD into iTunes, but wasn't sure if you could equalise volumes within it. That's the only reason I suggested converting to MP3's first.

Carl,
If your backing tracks are analogue, i.e CD or Minidisc, you will need to convert them to a digital format, commonly MP3. This can be done by ripping them on a PC using Windows Media Player. If you want to equalize the volumes, do it at this point using something like MP3Gain.
Once in MP3 format, you can put them on your iPad using iTunes. They will then be in your Music library. Bear in mind that the iPad doesn't have limitless storage, so I would only put on the Backing Tracks you need.
The best app I have found for playing Backing Tracks is One Track, you can get this from the App Store.
It allows you to use playlists you have created in your Music library, or create playlists within the app. There are multiple option to play a track, then ready the next track until you are ready to play it.
One othe advantage is it supports the Airturn pedal, so tracks can be played, paused, etc.. all controlled from this pedal.
Hope this helps.

Matthew,
For my videos I record the video and audio on my Panasonic FZ200 camera. At the same time I'm also recording the audio (mic'd up amp) on my iPad with the Focusrite Tape app (free) and Griffin StudioConnect.
Up until now I have used iMovie on my iPad to edit the video. When I'm happy with that, I then import the audio and sync it up.
However, I have just downloaded Pinnacle Pro for iPad which looks to be better featured than iMovie, although with a greater learning curve.
Hope this helps.

Mine is just playing with anybody around. When I'm on my own, I can play perfectly. I know I've recorded myself and am more than happy with the results. But if anybody else is within hearing distance, I can't do anything correctly.
Luckily, at my age, I'm never intending to do any more than enjoy myself. It's just annoying if anybody says "Play us something then", I just make an excuse and leave it.
Tim.
PS. The dog doesn't count, I can play fine when she's looking at me.

Hi Matthew,
I record my video on a Lumix FZ200 and the audio on an app on my iPad.
I then use iMovies to create my videos.
One point I have learnt doing it this way is to give a loud clap before you start playing, this makes it much easier to line up the video and audio later.
Also, if I make a mistake I just just clap again, say "Take 2, or 3, etc." and carry on. I can remove the other bits later. Before I did this I used to drive myself mad doing retakes.

If you've got an iPad, take a look at the iStomp. 4 different types of reverb available.
I bought one and was so impressed I'm planning on getting another couple.
It's a discontinued product, so really cheap if you shop around, I paid £35 for mine and for that price it's excellent.

2 new Vox amps just announced VXI and VXII. They look pretty good, might have been tempted with a VXII if I hadn't just bought a VT20+.
Should have known there's always something new round the corner.

Hi Tony,
I was using the line out of my DA-5 into a Alto 5-channel mixer. My mp3 BT's also went into this mixer. Then the ouput from the mixer went to a pair of powered speakers.
Sounded great to me.

I've just bought a Digitech iStomp pedal. It's a stomp box, BUT you download what you want from an app running on an iPad/iPhone. There are 47 different stompbox models to choose from. So far I've tried the spring reverb, and it's lovely and lush. Great surf guitar sound. But the icing on the cake is that it's a discontinued model now from Digitech. I bought mine from Gear4Music, it's £34.99 reduced from £99.99. Also, all 47 pedals are now free from the stomp shop, bar 1. I'm so impressed, I may well by another at that price. Charlie,
What is the current situation regarding selling units with EFTP loaded.
I no longer use my Zoom RFX-2000, so am looking to sell it.
It has a legal copy of EFTP on it which I purchased from you some years back.
Many Thanks,
Tim.

Tony,
I've got a Vox DA5, which I think is the predecessor to the Mini3. It's a great little amp, I use it all the time when I can't be bothered with my main setup.
The 11 amp types are very good, as are the effects.
Perhaps not for the purists on here, but then again I play a lot of classic rock/blues and it's got some good Marshall tones.
If they still made the DA5, I would heartily recommend it, so I don't reckon you'll go far wrong with the Mini3.
