Can anyone suggest a PA system (not too big) just for pubs and the like to output vocals with reverb, guitar instrumentals with my pod HD and feeding backing tracks through. Any suggestions welcome. Thanks Dave

Hi Dave, I have owned a Fender Passport -p.a. system for many years now, and I have used it for many gigs, it is absolutely brilliant. 200watt outpot has every combination of inputs and outputs you will ever need, the sound quality is unbeatable, and best of all - the amp,and speakers, all lock together after use, so it is 1 contained unit, has a padded cover, handle on top(easy to carry) speaker stands as well all collapse, and go into there own gig bag, also included are all quality leads, a good quality microphone...its built like a brick ......!! down side is they don't come cheap, ignore all the cheap systems, the sound from them is dissapointing, i think I paid around the £500 mark for mine (but it was 10 yrs ago) its fender quality through and through, but at the end of the day its all down to what you can afford, and what you think is worth it for the responce you get when on stage. Apart from the quality of this system, it fits in the car boot dead easy, and with my back - thats a bonus. Good luck in your quest Cheers Colin

Hi Dave.
The Peavey Escort noted by Neil is ideal for your use. We had a few of these at the get together event. There are a couple of these models, I have owned an Escort 2000 for 5 years which is the 150 watt version and more than big enough for small venues and home practice. The 3000 version is 300 watts. Clivea I think has one for sale having moved to a larger PA. The Fender Passport is also excellent but a bit more expensive. Little to choose with either the Peavey or Fender. Worth a look at are the Behringer EPA series, I heard one of these recently and was impressed with the quality, these again start at 150 watts to 1500 watts.

Hi Dave, Would just like to endorse 26rednef's advice. The Bose 'compact' would be ideal for your small to medium events. I had a 'Compact' a little while ago and was absolutely amazed and so impressed with the sound quality. THEN I did what all of us do - upgraded ( we all do it at some time - be it guitars, amps, effects units etc). I now have the Bose L1 Mk 11 and wouldn't change it for anything else on the market. All Bose gear (whatever your buying) is a little more pricey than the other PA systems suggested above BUT, in my opinion, if your wanting quality 'look no further'.
Very kind regards, Rod

Hi 26rednef/Rod, The Bose compact looks pretty good but nowhere do I see any reference to it's spec as regards mixer and an all imprtant reverb. Can you assist? Thank you Dave

Hi Dave, I use a 100W Marshall Acoustic amp, which has built in reverb, 2 instrument channels, 1 mic channel and a stereo aux channel. However, don't forget the self contained Karaoke option: www.the well known auction site.co.uk/itm/Vocopro-Soundman-80w-Karaoke-Machine-CDG-System-Echo-/170610161185?pt=UK_Karaoke_Systems_Equipment&hash=item27b9287621 www.musiciansfriend.com/pro-audio/vocopro-gig-star-pro-ii-karaoke-machine-packageRegards DaveC

Hi Dave,
As Tony has advised, I have a Peavey Escort 2000 (absolutely as new), which I am planning to put on the well known auction site shortly. Should you be interested, then if you PM me, I'll send you the full spec.
Clive
