Hi, all
I've a Yamaha Magicstomp with Charlie Hall patches
Now someone offers me an Alesis Quadraverb GT at very good price
Is Alesis unit better than Yamaha? Will I get best sound for "The Shadows" tunes? Is it worth to change the machine?
Thank you
Carlos

Hi Carlos You have already a wonderful machine as a Magicstomp. Have you got Charlie's patches? If the latter answer is yes...do not change it in my humble opinion. If the answer was no..get Charlie's patches and you will hear a difference. Sheendigs

HI CARLOS, I have to Agree with SHEENDIGS , The magic stomp is & easier to use than the GT & sound-wise also better , Saying that The Alesis Q2 -with Charlies 79-09 patch set is the Best digital available at this time followed by the M/stomp EFPT . I have owned all of them & plus the Zoom units , but the Q2 & M/stomp beats all ,untill any future units arrive .. Cheers Barry..

hi carlos and all. i am no great guitarist far from it. i only play for my own pleasure. but i have had the yamaha with eftp and it was great no problams with it at all. but i do prefer the quadraverb gt. cant really explain why it just suits me better. never had the Alesis Q2 but am told its better than the gt. with all these things i think its down to what suits the indevidual person. i have read that charlie thinks the yamaha is better and he has a great ear for these things. my motto is try them all and keep what you like. peter

Hi Carlos, 1st point the GT is old and spares are very limited, 2nd point it has inbuilt EQ so tone may not be to your taste, 3rd point its not as robust as the M/S, but the GT is still a good echo for early Shads stuff, i have used all the Quads but still use a m/s while waiting for Charlies new echo

Just goes to show that one mans meat etc, etc, I think the opposite to Ian.
I only kept a quad/gt for a couple of months. There was a tone to it that I hated, so the delay accuracy did not matter.
I have 2 Stomps, one is a spare. They sound much better to me, and will never sell them.
Cheers AlanH

All of this needs to be considered in the light of the rest of the gear, particularly the amp. I've had units that I thought were great until I changed my amp. I don't think there's a definitive answer, just settle for what you're happy with.
Cheers Len

I'll add my usual comment. Don't forget that the MagicStomp is a superb programmable sound processor -- even when you aren't using it for EFTP. You are not limited to the pre-sets.

Hi , i am pretty new to this forum .... i have neither the Stomp or the Quadraverb,,, but i do have a VOX TONE LAB LE, does Charlie do patches for that ? or would i be better off getting a Qhadraverb plus or the MS
PS
the Quadaraverbs here in Germany second are going pretty cheap for anything from 40 quid up to around 100 , there was 2 for sale ( quad 1 without Eprom upgrade ) for 38 and 40 odd quid respectively ,
