If you have an iPad and, like me, were dumb enough to upgrade from iOS5 to iOS6 you will now be cursing Apple for removing the YouTube viewer.
Take a look in the App Store for "Jasmine (YouTube Client)". It has the same functions as the original Apple app but a much better interface --- and it's free!
The first installation might conflict with previous settings and give some error messages. If so just delete it, re-install and all should be well.

But you can still access YouTube via the browser.

It's because Google own You Tube and now that Google and Apple are rivals, all Google apps (eg Google Maps) have been removed.
shame ...although the new map function on the new iPhone is great !

Hi Noel,
The Safari browser will access YouTube but a lot of the videos won't play without Adobe FlashPlayer, which isn't supported by iPad iOS6. The old Viewer used to convert "on-the-fly" and so does Jasmine.

To replace the IOS 5 YouTube app, I downloaded the SQURL app, for my now IOS 6. I find it brilliant, with instant access to YouTube and indeed, other video resources as well. It is orientation sensitive, and I haven't found any problems re lacking Flash. I stumbled upon it quite by chance, and find it even better than the old YouTube app in IOS5. What I do miss however, is Google Maps app with full screen Street View. Great for planning caravan routes round tight corners in far flung parts of the UK. Good job I kept my wife's iPad on IOS 5! SQURL app ;D

If you have ios6,I think an app called Jasmine will give YouTube access.
I have not been brave enough to install ios6 yet,I prefer to wait a while and hope some of the anomalies can be ironed out.

I use the app VDownload+ which lets you download and save YouTube files to watch (and re-watch) at your leisure. Only cost a couple of quid, and enables you to keep on file things like the Shadows 30th anniversary concert inLiverpool, etc to watch whenever you feel like it. A good and inexpensive app, which can be used to download video from other Internet sites as well as YouTube. You can download a free trial version which enables you to save up to 10 downloads. Hope this is useful. (It works well with IOS6).
