I have a backing track for "Don't Cry For Me Argentina" in "D"and have worked out most of the melody using tab but can anyone please advise me of how to play just the chorus as the one I have doesn't sound quite right. Thanks, John.

Hi John, I must have the tabs somewhere as I used them to learn this tune, but I can't seem to find them. If you don't receive them from someone in the next day or so I will have a good look for them. Best regards, Maurice.

Thanks Maurice. My version sounds a bit like Les Dawson at the moment! Regards, John.

Well this is how I play it ....
The first part of the chorus is double stops ie two notes played together. you can also pedal the open D string through these if you want
First phrase "dont cry for me argentina"
2nd & 3rd string 7th fret x 4 2nd string 8th fret 3rd string 9th fret 2nd string 10th fret 3rd string 11th fret 2nd & 3rd string 12th fret 2nd string 10th fret 3rd string 11th fret
second phrase "the truth is I never left you"
2nd string 10th fret 3rd string 11th fret 2nd & 3rd string 12th fret x2 2nd string 10th fret 3rd string 11th fret 1st & 2nd string 10th fret 2nd string 10th fret 3rd string 11th fret 2nd string 8th fret 3rd string 9th fret 2nd & 3rd string 7th fret
then single notes:
"all through my wild days" 2nd string 7th fret, 8th fret, 10th fret 3rd string 9th fret
"my mad existence" 3rd string 9th fret 2nd string 7th fret, 8th fret 3rd string 7th fret x 2
"I kept my promise" 3rd string 7th fret, 9th fret, 7th fret 3rd string slide 9th to 11th fret 2nd string 10th fret
"Don't keep your distance" 4th string 7th fret x3 4th string 9th fret (or hammer on from 7th to 9th) 3rd string 7th fret
That's a loose explanation which you can embellish with bends slides hammer ons and rakes - enjoy!

Thanks very much for that Mark, that's a big help. Now for some practice as I've worked out the "verses"but I needed the "chorus". Once again, many thanks! Regards, John.

Hi Mark I hope you are well. Thanks for the explanation. Its one of those tunes that aggravates - I have tried various ways of playing that bridge section and I have to say that your way sounds "right". You lern summat new every day. cheers Ian

Hi!
I have worked out tab for the version played by Hank. The chorus with doublestops is played upstrokes.
Best regards! Lars G. Vinger

It's also the subject of my most embarrassing time on stage - I completely forgot how to play the chorus - twice (in the same rendition)!! Mind went completely blank and that's a horrible feeling!! cheers Mark.

Too true, Mark! I remember all too well my "Black Hole" moment (OK OK there have been a few!") at Warwick when I played good old Atlantis and as the upper register section approached I realised I had no idea how to play it! And I have played it a hundred times. The guys "helped" by La-La'ing in loud voices. Cheers Ian
