Came across this software Riffstation that can show you the chords for a soundfile and states it can remove any instrument from the soundfile, it is a 30 day free trial and about £36 for full version. just type it into Google and it will find it.

I bought a copy mainly for the Isolate function. I have been using Audacity up to now.
Haven't had a chance to really try it out yet. The user interface is very friendly and from what I have seen of the Isolate controls so far it should be pretty good.

Hmm? I think what you'll find is that it can isolate frequency ranges that coincide with certain instruments. The reality of it is that when you 'isolate' a particular instrument, it will also contain/delete the frequencies of every other sound on the recording that coincides with that range. At the end of the day, the original recorded session - not the master session or the original commercial release - is still the only point at which you can completely isolate or remove any track. Once it's been set free on the world, you will never be able to remove a specific instrument from a recording without taking something else with it, partly because it can't be done and also because it's actually illegal to alter any copyrighted material. Cheers, Julian
