Hi, A friend and I are doing a charity gig next month and along with some Shadows numbers we are planning to do some vocals. My question is does anyone know if the Zoom G2.1u would be suitable to use to add a little reverb to the vocals. The PA at the venue is very good but does not have any reverb on it. Any advice would be appreciated. Best regards, Maurice.

Hi Maurice, It would probably be possible up to a point but there are things to consider and it might not be worth it in the end. The G2.1u is designed for guitar level signals and might overload in an effects send return setup. It probably won't work well with a direct microphone connection and that would be the wrong approach anyway with a PA. Assuming you will get as far as trying it in the effects loop, the loop would need to be a series one and not a parallel one. The amp modelling and the EQ would also need to be turned off in the used reverb patch of the GT2.1u. If the room is fairly large, it won't sound too bad out front without reverb if the vocals are reasonably good. Also thinking back to when Hank and his band did vocal numbers on his solo tours I never detected any reverb on the vocals. Put another way, if there was any it wouldn't have made much difference if there were none. Regards, Charlie

Hi Charlie, Thank you very much for your advice, in view of your comments I think we will leave well alone and not use the G2.1u. Best regards, Maurice.
