Hi Tuffty, I don't remember the thread or where it might be. Someone else might. The user patches will be lost if the battery runs out. The user patches will also almost certainly be lost when changing the battery unless a secondary battery (and series diode to prevent charge/discharge from one battery to the other) is temporarily rigged up, or the unit is powered up all the time (the danger with that is if mains power fails while there is no battery connected). I can re-program any genuine EFTP programmed Q2 that I programmed originally if the worst should happen. Regards, Charlie

The original battery was a Panasonic BR2325. I think all BR types are discontinued so it now has to be CR. I use a Varta CR2430 from CPC but there are other brands and suppliers as I think you have to have an account with CPC. The CR2430 is larger than the original. It doesn't end there though. The battery is soldered to the board so it has to have solder lugs. The usual plain coin cell type used in watches is no good. Look for the type number in horizontal mount with solder lugs. The original lug spacings are 20mm x 8mm. The CR2430 has 18mm x 10mm spacings so you have to cut one positive lug off and bend the remaining two further apart to suit the 20mm spacing. Regards, Charlie

How kind and helpful. Thank you for the information Charlie, and Terry thanks for the offer to obtain one for me.
I'll give CPC at Preston a ring. Thanks again.

I've just ordered a battery from CPC, free postage as well. So thanks again for the offer, Terry.
Charlie, I'm going to have a go at replacing the battery in the Q2, if I fail and loose the patches, can I send the unit to you Charlie ?
Can somebody point me in the directions to replace the battery on a previous thread, I can't seem to find them.
Regards. Tuffty Tony.

I have a Q2 that I got via the well known auction site last year, it has worked fine until now. It works when I switch it on then after about 5 or 10 minutes the output sound fades to nothing. The db indicator lights next to the input know is still showing signal going in. If I then switch it off for a while then on again I can get up to half an hour before the sound fades out again. Is this the battery going please advise

Hi Graham, I don't know what is causing the sound to fade but it won't be because of the battery. There would be no harm in checking the battery though. It should read in excess of 3 volts. Any less and it is probably going to fail soon. Regards, Charlie
