Hi all I have used a quadraverb 2 for about 21/2 years with no problems I am thinking is the internal battery still ok and does it need replacing It all works fine with EFTP installed Could you confirm that the battery I need is the BR 2430 and cut a pos leg off am I right in saying that this is bought from CPC I know there has been so many threads on the subject but I need to check Kind regards Glen

Hi Glen, The original battery for the Q2 was the Panasonic BR2325. They were always harder to find. CPC no longer sells the BR2430 horizontal mount battery, only the CR2430 version. This could be the case with other suppliers. The CR version will work. You will have to cut one positive leg off and also carefully bend the remaining two legs further apart by a couple of mm or so. The battery should last a lot longer than 2 1/2 years, but you have not mentioned if it was fitted new at that time. Regards, Charlie

Hi Charlie I hope. You are keeping well Thanks for your reply It is probably only me being totally over cautious I have had the Q2 for about 21/2 years and never changed the battery but everything is working fine What happens when the battery goes Roy painter the man you recommended took out the capacitors and checked the battery when I got it 21/2 years ago And it did not need changing then Shall I leave well alone Kindest regards Glen

Hi Glen, When the battery drops below a not so certain voltage the User patches will be lost and you will need to replace the battery and re-install the patches. It is not really possible to tell how much life is left in these batteries until they are near the end. Regards, Charlie

I found this to be a better solution. Very easily accessible and readily available batteries regards Ian

This week I dug out my old Quadraverb 2 that I hadn't used for years!!! The user programmes were just showing hieroglyphics and the pre-set programmes did not sound at all right. I opened up the case and un-soldered the BR2325 battery that was only registering 0.03 vdc. My answer was to use the BIOS battery holder from an old PC motherboard, and the two + and - pins fitted exactly into where the BR2325 had been removed. I fitted a new CR 32 battery and the Q2 now boots up and works perfectly. The advantage with this setup is that to change the battery, no soldering is needed, just slip out the old battery and slip in a new one.
James.

Try to tie a cable clip round the holder and battery to minimise risk of disconnection. This has happened so I always preferred soldering a battery direct to the board. Regards, Charlie
