Hi all, Well it went off great, the first hour as before was to take pictures and have a look around Studio 2 and stand in the very spot where it was all done, Beatles, Shadows and just about everyone else. The first talk was about the early recording techniques etc the Ken Scott came in and went through many many stories about the Beatles and the recording situation at AR some of what he said was quite new to me and was surprising. He had his book there and later did a signing. Here's some pics, sorry but there's a few of me in them Phil KEN SCOTT. VARI-SPEED CONTROLLER. MASTERING MACHINE. THE TOP MIC IS WHAT MALCOLM ADDEY PREFERED TO USE FOR MIC'ING AMPS HE CHANGED TO THIS FROM THE U47, IT HAS ONLY A FIGURE EIGHT PATTERN SO BLEED WOULD HAVE BEEN ADDED TO THE TRACKS. RECORDING DEVICES INCLUDING THE ALTEC AND FAIRCHILD COMPRESSORS. THE FIRST DIGITAL MIXER, NOTICE THE RUBBER "Track" FADERS, ADAPTED FROM TOY TANK TRACKS. 70's MIXER USED ON "DARK SIDE OF THE MOON" etc by PINK FLOYD. CAR ENGINE EFFECTS SIMULATOR FOR EARLY RADIO PROGRAMS AND A RAIN MACHINE. THIS IS THE PART OF THE STUDIO WHERE IT ALL HAPPENED.

I know that you said you were taking a Tesco carrier bag with you Phil but I thought you were joking, until I saw you with one on the steps I must admit you do look somewhat furtive in the 4th pic down though Did you get George Martin to take your photos ? Looks like you enjoyed yourself

I will be doing some experiments tonight with an Altec compressor!

Just a bit of trivia, Brian Kehew, co-writer and the guy that does the AR talks and is pictured in the echo chamber in the "Recording the Shadows" thread is also the keyboard player for the Who.
