If it's of any help to anyone, when using the Private Message service here on Charlie's site, it is possible to be informed through the site when you get one.
If you go into the Private Messages area just below the big logo and look along the top in the thin blue line, the last word on the far right is PREFERENCES. Click on this and there is a box to tick for NOTIFICATION. Change both boxes to yes if you want to be informed by the site when you get a Private Message and then click on the SAVE PREFERENCES box.
It's much easier this way then when someone sends you a Private Message, they don't have to keep letting you know it's there.

Hi Charlie,
It's a great system really.
Changing to YES in the top box sends you an email to let you know you've got a personal message and changing to YES on the bottom box sends you a small pop up next time you visit the site.

Just thought I'd bring this back to the top as a reminder of how the system can work.
Reading the threads and personal experience shows one or two members are not picking up their PMs on the site.

Hi Barry
That's very timely as in the last 24 hours I've realised I'd had a PM that I hadn't noticed (perhaps I'm one of those to whom you were referring).
I've now altered my "Preferences" to give me an email and site alert when a new message is received.
Many thanks.
Tony
