How`s it going troops.
Just wanted to ask if anyone has heard of or uses a software program called "The Amazing Slow Downer"?
In case you haven't heard of it, it allows the user to play any track and you can slow it down to a really slow speed without affecting the pitch. This program would make it a lot easier to learn to play because, to be able to slow it right down without losing the pitch is fantastic. You could learn things note by note. The problem with the trial version is that it only allows a short section to be played before it stops which is annoying and makes it hard to evaluate so, before I buy it, I thought I would ask here to see if anyone uses it and if it`s worthwhile spending the money which is US$49.95 so, if anyone is using this software, I would really appreciate any comments and feedback.
Cheers all
Adrian

Hi,
I would recommend Transcribe from Seventh String Software. It has a lot of additional features to it and you receive regular upgrades free of charge. A Stable program too - I've never had any problems with it. Comes in at around 39 USD at the moment.
Cheers,
Ian

The JamUp app (both the pro version and the free version) not only has the ability to slow down (and speed up, too) to any degree without changing pitch but also, separately, to change pitch without slowing down or speeding up. Save yourself $49.95!

Loads of programmes available Adrian..including All the above. Ive used some of them. I prefer song surgeon. It does all as is said above..slow downer, loops, pitch shift etc. Costs about £45 for the pro version when on special offer(which is quite often). It can be installed on three different laptops/PCs etc. PS. It also features the sniffer, which allows you to rip audio off you tube which is very useful.
Cheers.Steve

Windows Media Player does this .. free. Every DAW also does it (and of course a lot more .. if you need that.) It is "Amazing", because I'm not sure why anyone would buy a program to do such a simple thing when there are so many that will do that and much more. Marketing I guess. ? cheers George

Many thanks fore the replies guys, you`ve come to the rescue yet again. I had a feeling there would be quite a few of them out there and it certainly looks that way.
I`ll have a look at all of your suggestions guys and see which one I prefer. I had no idea that windows media player could do it George, probably because I don`t use it. Due to some issues that I once had with media player, I now use Real player and I`ve never had a problem with it. At the moment, I`m trying to learn Guitar Tango and I`m struggling with that short, fast section in the middle that`s why I`m looking for this type of software.
Anyway, many thanks again guys.
Cheers
Adrian

As with a lot of things, there are applications like WMP,Audacity, etc.. that will do the slowing down bit, but they are not designed from the drawing board to do one function only and therefore will never be the choice if you want a tool just for one job. In my other "hobby" flying, there is a trend now in navigation to use "Android" tablets, smart phones etc because they have built in GPS functionality with a mapping app as well. All I hear from the lets do it on the cheap brigade is how they keep losing the signal or the computer keeps having problems. The sensible ones buy and use purpose built units like Garmin for nav as they are rock solid and only do navigation, not games, spreadsheets and e-mails. Particularly essential is it works 100% of the time, or a day in court could ensue or worse a mid-air, by relying on sub-standard tools. Back to Amazing Slow Downer. The algorithms it uses are dedicated to not only slowing down a .wav but keeping perfect pitch accuracy, and because it is a stand-alone piece of software I use it on my other PC next to my music machine, there are probably a lot of other stand-alone/dedicated apps out there that will also do the job and not for a lot of money either. I need a lie down now. Mike.
