Hi All
I currently have a Zoom 2200 with Charlies Patches, and I was wondering the other day just what I would do if the darn thing broke and couldn't be repaired.
Now the question is,what other echo options are there, without spending £1500 on an Echomatic.
It would be interesting to know if Charlie is looking at newer machines with a view to programming them with EFTP echoes.
Let's face it,the chance of getting a Magicstomp or a Q2/Q20,which are quite old now,is becoming nearly impossible, and the price is getting prohibitive.........so.
Is there anything upcoming?

Hi Alan,
The only "new" echo I can think of is the Copicat Gold that Dave Robbo is experimenting with over on the Shadow Music forum.
Wouldn't it be good if one of the modern effects would do a decent job with the Shadows echoes. It always seems that the echo stuff we use is well past its sell by date, and the older it is, the better it sounds, Phil Kelly's Meazzi springs to mind.
Having said that, non of the stuff I've used, mainly Alesis, has ever let me down.
Cheers Barry

According to the samples I have listenened to, the Copicat Gold misses the warmth of the old echo units. May be it was because of improper settings, or because it wasn't designed to emulate well enough the Meazzi tone, which is not an easy task... Emulating echoes timing and volume is not enough. Didier

I listened to the demo's and I have to say I am not impressed.
They don't sound anything like Shads echoes so I won't be bothering.

I bought an Eventide Stomp box echo (Timefactor). It is well made with good echo possibilities (two Procs.). Eventide make very good studio gear and although this is in a floor pedal it seems to be of the same quality. It is programable, I wonder whether Charlie has had a look at one yet. If he hasn't I may take it down to him when I visit in the new year.

Hi Malcolm, I would be interested to see it. I will be able to do this after the 9th/10th Jan. Regards, Charlie
