Hi all
I'm selling my pinnacle as its just too heavy and doesn't get used top often. I have a session acetone that I am very pleased with but am toying with a blackstar head with a 2x12 cab. I mainly play shads but also some rock and roll with a band, does anyone have any experience of the id 100?

Hi Steve
I have the ID30 and I am very pleased with it.
I keep the Treble off and the Bass at about 1/4 to or less, let let the pickups give you the tone.
Of course the boring answer is to go and try one,but this is not always possible.
Choose a supplier who will honour the distance selling regs and try it for yourself at home.

Not me, but I do have the ID15. I can get THAT sound from it, but I dunno... there's just 'something' missing... As I've found with all these digital boxes, they're 'two-dimensional'... hard to explain, but they don't seem 'alive' like a valve, or even good tranny, amp. I think it's a dynamics thing - the nature of A/D conversion, I guess. By the way, if you get one, for the 800Hz dip, set the ISF at 12 o'clock, NOT at 'Brit'. I would advise, strongly, that you try one out... then walk away... play your own amps again, and then go back and try it again. I got an AC4 and the Id15 within a couple of weeks of each other. Was initially blown away by the ID15, more than I was by the AC4. The ID15 is alot more versatile from a noise perspective, but the AC4, which is pretty much 'plug in and play/take it or leave it/one trick pony' gets a lot more use, and I very rarely play any Shadows stuff. The AC4 has that 'something'. It can growl, it can do rockabilly and sound like it means it, whereas the ID (and the old man's Valvetronix) just sound like pretenders. If I had to get rid of all my gear and have just one amp and guitar, I could easily live with just an AC4 and a Les Paul Junior. I'm not having a downer on digital or Blackstar - their valve amps really are incredible - or pushing Vox (there are definitely better amps around), just saying, the grass always appears greener, but it's still just grass... and you may miss the grass you're familiar with?
Cheers, Julian

Hi Steve........I also use a Blackstar from the ID TVP range.....Julian is right that a good valve amp will give you a gutsier more authentic tone,,,,,,,,but we are talking tiny margins here.
For the money the Blackstar is absolutely remarkable.
Baz
PS........I play in a five piece 60's/R n R band and use an ID 30TVP. Its got enough guts to hold its place in a pretty solid line up so the 100 head thru a 2x12 should give you huge clean headroom

Hi everyone
Thanks for your comments, I'm hoping to try one out next week at pmt in Romford but I have a feeling I'm still going to be undecided. With the session acetone I am very happy with it but it tends to break up at louder volumes but the pinnacle doesn't. It would be perfect if shops would let you take kit home and try it properly but they wouldn't make any money I guess lol

Hi guys
Old thread I know but just thought id give an update. I sold my pinnacle and brought a vox ac30 head and 2x12 cab and for Shads with my meazzi its perfect.....however I have now joined a band that writes its own material and needs lots of different sounds etc so I have brought an id60 Blackstar head for only £220. I'm looking forward to trying shads stuff aswell as new
