Hi All,
Up until recently I have been using the APP One Track Mind to play backing tracks on my iPad Mini.
Since updating the iPad operating system to IOS8 the APP no longer works and has not been updated.
Does anyone know to another APP that is very similar to One Track Mind that I can use instead which is compatible with IOS8?
Many thanks.
Roger

Hi Roger
You might like to consider Stage Traxx, it has just been updated for IOS 8.0.2.
We have been using it successfully in our club for several months!

Gary

I haven't updated my iPad yet and am seriously considering never updating it again. All of my guitar processing nowadays, plus BTs, is done on my iPad and the last thing I need is an iOS update disabling my apps. I've had this iPad for a long time and buying a new one for general use and keeping this one purely as a dedicated music processor is a definite option. I don't need to update my music apps, either, because they are fine as they are now.

Hi All,
Thanks for your replies.
Hi Gary, I've not heard of Stage Traxx. I'll look into it. It could be an answer.
Hi John, I have heard of Garageband but never used it, I use Mulitrack DAW for recording and find it excellent. I will look into Garageband.
Hi Noel,
I know what you mean about the problems of updating. We run an iPad at our club with BT's on it very successfully. The op system on it is IOS 7. The APP we use will not work on IOS 8 and the latest is that it's not going to be updated. So for the moment we will not be updating the iPad. The only problem with having a dedicated iPad is if it goes pear-shaped sometime and requires a re-install, the old op-system will not be available. Worrying times. I have downloaded an APP this morning called One Track v4 (£10.49) that looks like it could be the business for replacement. I'm trying it out at the moment and looks very favourable.
Thanks again to you all.
Kind regards Roger

Roger, whenever I'm out playing live, I have my 'emergency kit' in the car, just in case the iPad goes belly up! This comprises a Vox Tonelab for guitar processing and a MacBook for BTs. Haven't had to use them... yet...

Hi Noel, I'm glad you've taken the precaution of a back-up system and not had to use it in anger yet. That's a very wise thing to do. I hope you stay lucky enough to keep it that way.
Kind regards Roger

Hi Gary,
Thanks for the link. I've just had a look at Stagetraxx and ran the video. I was quite impressed. I quite like the editable playlist and scrolling lyrics idea for stage work.
Many thanks.
Kind regards Roger

Hi Roger
There is a manual on the site, it's worth downloading that and having a look.
In practice it is very easy to setup playlists, you give them a name and it lets you select numbers in various ways (you tap the ! After edit playlist and it brings up options for number selection). Say you had UB Hank, just name the playlist and bring the numbers into that list by selecting the whole album, a fews seconds.
Another nice feature is that you can set the controls to double tap, so that it doesn't accidentally start/stop if a key is hit. There is also the option to automatically setup for the next number, even if it is in a different playlist, when the one playing finishes it goes to the next designated one, only starting that one when you tap to play key.
There is a free lite version if you want to give it a try, I never used this as we were shown it working by members of a another club and were convinced enough to just purchase it outright.
Regards
Gary

However, I suggest you consider turning off "Automatically sync with iTunes on your computer when your iPad is plugged in to power and connected to Wi-Fi". I found out the hard way when stuff like songs and backing tracks started disappearing from my 'new' iPad as it synced with data previously synced with the content on the 'old' iPad and PC - does that make much sense? Anyway, hopefully you get the gist. You can configure iTunes through 'Devices' in the menu bar. I use a handy utility called 'Syncios' for all my file transferring activities to and from my PC. Works great and so much easier than going through iTunes which I have never considered as being particularly user friendly. I like to have control rather than have it imposed on me Regards, Mike

Cheers, Mike. Deactivating auto-sync was one of the first things I did when I started using the iPad for music - well worth a mention here though because, as you say, auto-synching can cause big problems if you're not extremely careful.

Perhaps deleting and then reinstalling the App might get it to work? Regards, Mike

Hi Gary, I have just purchased a Ipad so it should work okay with stagetraxx Do you play BT from stagetraxx to a PA system or Stage monitors. I suppose playing them at home you could go through a amp, or your stereo system should sound good. Stagetraxx sounds pretty good. Regards Les.

HI Les
We use it through a 500 watt Yamaha Stagepas PA system at the club, the latest Stage Traxx works fine with IOS 8.1. For home you could use the line out to stereo speakers/system.

Hi Mike,
I have been in touch with the Author/writer of 'One Track Mind' and he is aware that it's not compatable with IOS8. He said that he is working on the update fix but it may take a little while as he is very busy.
I am also informed by a friend that he can get it to work in portrait mode only but not landscape. I have tried all the tricks and re-boots but to no avail. I await the update.
Best regards Roger

Hi Roger. Not sure if OneTrack Mind is different to One Track. I use One Track for playing BT's and its brilliant. Set Lists can also be edited from the App. I have updated my iPad to OS 8.01 and One Track works perfectly. I highly recommend it. Regards Gruntfuttock

Hi Les
I think you will be happy with Stage Traxx, it's really more a matter of the softwares functionality that influenced our decision and it's pretty inexpensive with good support from Peter of Fiery Apps!
We have had the Yamaha for 2 years now, it was purchased for portability, but the sound quality is certainly a much better than we had before.

However, 'One Track' v4.1.1 (October) does work in both modes under iOS 8.1. Regards, Mike

Hi Gruntfuttock and Mike,
I already have 'One Track' and I agree with you that it's a great APP, works great, and it's already configured for IOS8.
'One Track Mind' is a different APP all together and is one that I prefer for what I'm using it for. I am already using 'One Track' until the update for 'One Track Mind' is released.
Many thanks for your replies.
Best regards Roger

Well, with much trepidation, I overrode my misgivings and upgraded today, straight to iOS8.1 which has, I understand, addressed some of the problems that the earlier iOS8 had. Thankfully, JamUp Pro (and everything else) still works fine!
I don't normally use One-Track-Mind, but I do have the app and can confirm that it works in iOS8.1, but only in portrait mode.

Having said that, I've just discovered I can't email my recordings from the 8-track any more! I've contacted Positive Grid about the issue and am awaiting their response.

Hi Noel,
Slightly off-topic but.....
Which iPad are you using. Any performance problems after the upgrade. I haven't upgraded yet, so thought I would ask.
Thanks, Tim.

Hi Roger,
I use "OneTrack Backing Tracks For Pro's" from the app store and it is excellent and is fully iOS 8 compatible.
Best Wishes Regards Steve B

Tim, I'm still using the iPad2. I've noticed that the upgrade has caused some very small issues - JamUp requires a more precise 'clicking' of some selection buttons, for instance, but really no big problems.
