Hi,
What would be suitable Zoom 508/RFX2000 patches and which pickup would be best for the version of Sleepwalk on Hank Plays Live.
Thanks,
Tim

I think it could have started when he was playing a Les Paul with Marvin Welch and Farrar. When he went back to a Strat in the 70s he was using a Dimarzio FS1 Fat Strat pickup in the bridge position. Since then he seems to have used the bridge pickup for almost everything. Regards, Charlie

As mentioned Hank went on to use the bridge pickup for just about everything, the original Sleepwalk however was played with the middle pickup. Some months back I did a project with this which included the bt, it started out with the bridge but after many many hours of experimenting it was the middle that got the closest sound but not 100% as there is a sweetness in that sound that is unattainable, I have not heard anyone reproduce it, Paul R. has also acknowledged this in a discussion we had. It was probably down to the amp Hank was using at the time and not studio tools because I also tried an Altec on it. Here's the thread if you want to check on the discussion charliehall.proboards.com/thread/15774/sleepwalk-middle-pickupPhil

I all so have experimented had have found this out. Charlie agreed when he heard a version of mine aa charlie thought it was neck. And i can see why . But when you play along to the track in middle position and have the plectrum and holding the trem just below the neck the tone is about 95% to 100% the same. Its deffinetly not bridge .or neck.thanks Richie

For "original" I use Middle too, leaving the amp (AC30 model) set as for Bridge but sweetening tone on Strat tone pot to 7. For later versions its Bridge, again with as bit of Strat tone pot dialled off. Bear in mind I use Kinsman FVs with tone on Bridge. Every little helps. Lol Cheers Ian
