Hi, just built a n5x British overdrive valve amp and I am looking for plans on how to build a nice amp head cabinet, if anybody knows of any plans it would be a great help, tried the internet, but cant seem to find much cheers Joe

Hi Joe Easiest way is to make a box open at front & back. Then make a front panel to sit above with the plexi front panel of the amp, I use a couple of screws in the top corners so that the front panel can be swivelled up by loosening the screws if required. The back is left open for ventilation as the rear plate covers all live parts (provided you fitted the insulating sleeves on the transformer leads) Using decent quality ply simplifies construction if you just varnish/stain then seal the finished cab. Feet, corner caps & handles easily available on fleabay If you are going to use "Tolex" radius the edges for a more pleasing effect Head/Combo/speaker cabs do seem to be overpriced, last time I asked for a quote for a combo cab (12" speaker) it was well over £200.00.
