Hi Julian
You are right about them not catching everything and it's important to keep definitions regularly updated, which is why I review at renewal as to which has the best detection on the latest threats at that time. The top paid one's usually come in the top four rankings, but this is not always the case and they may shuffle around a bit.
This is why I'm always a bit cynical about "I've always used software X and this has worked for me", there's no substitute for diligence and good practice when on line.
Gary

If you do get caught by something that you can not get rid of and you can not do a system restore to before you were infected, then you may find this site has some useful free tools to help clean your PC. www.surfright.nl/en/home/I have used their HitmanPro.Kickstart 2.3 on several PCs and laptops that were locked up with one of those fake Police/CIA or FBI messages that claim to have found some illegal downloaded content on them and demand £100 or more to unlock it, when nothing else would remove it.

Hi I have been using Bit Defender last couple of years on my windows 8 pc, you can buy the genuine licence/serial much cheaper on the well known auction site.
