Hi. First post, sorry if stupid question but whats the quickest and reasonably priced way to get patches for the main shadows classics.... Either using a mac/pc (both i have) or buying a pedal. I see zoom g3/g2 pedals and people offering the patches on the well known auction site... Its for own enterainment for my dad so just looking for the fastest way. Thought this board may know the current thinking in 2015.... I see a thread about charlies new unit but not sure if its offering me to select 'apache' and play... Any advice appreciate before i hit the well known auction site for zooms.... Since ive tried a friends g2 and programmed by hand and seemed good. Assume there are more options. I have an amp and strat.

Hi Welcome to the site There are a few options, the patches on the well known auction site I have never tried but the sound files I have heard don't convince me enough. The best unit at present is the Zoom G3, it is available from www.dv247.com for just £115 inc shipping and is a really fantastic piece of kit. There are patches available for these units from *** Hall, his website is www.hallsecho.com. They are £80 I believe and you can install using a PC really quickly and easily. hope this helps.

If you want a free option and are happy to play through the PC, it will not work on a mac at the moment, have a look on this site VST HostChristian, the site owner and main developer is French but he writes in excellent English as do most of the non English people on there and I think there are now more English people than any others on it now. Heres a link to some of the Shadows stuff that he is playing using the VST Host package. Sound FilesThe most you would need is a USB interface to connect your guitar to the computer with, Christain has developed the system around the Miditech GuitarFace 2 Miditech GuitarFace 2 It maybe cheaper elsewhere but that is where I bought mine from before Xmas and it was the cheapest at that time. Other USB interfaces may work but some have had problems your friends G2 may work if you wanted to try it before deciding whether to buy a Miditech or to go down the pedal path. Decisions decisions

Thanks both, will look into those, although the G3 one is a little pricey for my simple needs... one option could be I get a Zoom G2 and I just need to source the patches and i'm happy to program the main ones in by hand, and just give that to my dad and he'll be sweet. I found a couple free on one of the websites (apache/wonderful), but also happy to 'buy' the manual patches (in email?) for G2 from someone if I can. Can't seem to find an option for that... I heard there were about 30 patches in the EFTP originally? That would be more than enough.

If you are going the hardware route and either you or your dad are any good at electronics then these kits are apparently very good and you can put them in as plain or as fancy a box as you like. eTAP2HW Kit

Hello You have everything you need in the Mac using garageband , there is a Vox amp sim and 5 independent echoes , and other stomp box's like vibrato reverb compression and reverb , you can import your backing tracks into garageband and play along with them in the program and also record in that program , all you need is a guitar interface to plug into the Mac and the echo times and feedback for the songs , their is plenty of suggestions on the net for these , I have used this set up and sounds pretty good , best of luck , regards murray
