I'd been wondering for years why I found some of the stones Keith Richards stuff so hard to play seeing he doesn't look overly technical. I only found out recently that he has an odd tuning, open G or something? I didn't know he played a Casino either, this guy nails it with an old AC 30 www.youtube.com/watch?v=CpWT8K4PXTAMatthew

Hi Matthew,
Open G tuning is D-G-D-G-B-D. Keef removes the 6th string completely -- to leave G-D-G-B-D.

Hi Matthew,
I think I was about 13-14 when I was trying to work out some Hendrix stuff playing along to vinyl records. Drove me mad until the penny dropped. I knew the guitar was in tune, so it was obvious to me the turntable was playing too slow, but only on some tracks (I'm not the sharpest tool in the box). Tuned down half a step to compensate for the turntable and I'd got it.... then it would play at normal speed again... I'm pleased to say this didn't go on for too long but it was very frustrating while it did.
I believe Keith also used open D for some numbers.
I'm not aware of Keith using a Casino... I think he's more of a Tele man...
Regards, Tim.
