Hi John, The input impedance of the Binson Echorec and Binson Baby echo units was 47K, rather low for a guitar, so the treble resonant peak of the guitar pickups will be reduced, although it can probably be successfully argued that it is part of the sound. The point is, does the pedal have the same input impedance? If it does, then maybe it will sound a bit closer to a Binson but only if the preamp has the same valve circuit or a suitable emulation of it. The Hall & Collins Signature Echo input impedance is 470K. Regards, Charlie

Hi John, If you think about to get especially an emulation of the 'binson echorec' with focus on the preamp and its great sound you should have a look at the 'catalinbread echorec'. It's a marvellous pedal with a lot of options to find your favoured sound - for nearly £200 less than the 'echosex'. But there is no opportunity to save your settings - just five control knobs on the top and two trimpots inside. I got mine a few months ago and I love it. Regards, Bernie

Hi JW...the Echosex 2 might claim to sound like a Binson but it doesn't...it is a single repeat/head only...no multi heads at all.....I have owned 2 Binsons and also the Catalinbread Echorec and the CBE is the best option if you want exclusive Binson sounds at decent money and total reliability.....old Binsons are really more trouble than they are worth and are not particularly quiet either, even when working perfectly they are a bit hissy....I sold mine earlier this year after getting the CBE and haven't regretted it yet...Cheers, Paul...
