I'm looking for a BT for this track from The Shads' second album. With or without lead guitar but without the vocals. I've done the usual searches but haven't come up with anything.
Can anyone help, please? Many thanks in anticipation.

I have moved the post that provided a link to an item on the big auction site to a hidden area. I do not want posts promoting anything on that site here ever again.

Hi Charlie
I respect your view on the unmentionable but,of course, it doesn't help me in my quest!
Would it be OK if the poster of the now hidden reply sent me a PM with the information?
Regards.

Hi Tony, The link was to Shadows Workout 19, and should be obtainable direct from Ian McCutcheon. No need for an auction site! The poster you ask about is no longer a member here. However, Ian has already said that the track you are looking for is not on any of Ian's backing track CDs. Regards, Charlie

Hi Charlie
Thanks for that.
I've looked at Ian McCutcheon's SWO 19 and it does contain a track called 'El Cumbanchero' which, in fact, is the name of 'The Bandit' in the song lyrics.
Can anyone who has SWO 19 confirm whether or not it's the same song?
Cheers.

No - definitely NOT the same! "The Bandit" by The Shads is the old standard "The Bandit of Brazil". I thought it was terrible at the time, and still do. I always used to skip it when playing the LP. " El Cumbanchero" (tranlates as Fun Lover)is a very fast Latin piece. Go to the Shadows Workout website and you can hear the Demo of it, if you need any more convincing. AFAIK The Bandit has never had a BT made for it. May it rest in peace. Lol!! Ian

Well said Ian and if Tony goes on YouTube and types El Cumbanchero There is a version by The Ventures just so you can hear the difference.

Thanks, Ian and Alan. It looks as if my search will be fruitless.
Three of us at one of our club meetings thought we'd like to try a vocal and 'The Bandit' was suggested, hence my request.
It just shows how tastes differ because the three of us like it. Oh well, we'll just have to try something else - Bohemian Rhapsody comes to mind!
Cheers.

I'm pleased to say that one of our members in OZ has come up trumps with a suitable BT.
It just goes to show what a great site this is and how members are prepared to go to a lot of trouble to help others.
Cheers.
