The cardboard is impregnated with resin/adhesive and the parts with screws has extra resinfilling look at theback and the fretboard they are massive...

Presumably there must be some sort of hard, transparent surface forming the fingerboard? It's not clear in the video, but I can't see how it would be possible to adequately 'stop' the string or bend notes against the multiple rough cardboard edges?
