I now have all my UB Hank Backing tracks on my hard drive and have previously used Windows Media Player to play them. Just wondering if anyone can recommend a dedicated Windows backing track player where I could load say 10 tracks and have them play back in order, possibly with a pause between tracks.
Thanks, Glen

Hi Glen, I think VLC media player does what WMP does. HERE is the link. Regards, Tim.

Hi Glen,
I never really found one that did everything I wanted, so working in IT I built my own.
However, if you have an iPad, there is an app called One Track which pretty much does it all.
Tim.

I was surprised when you said you used Real Player as I have never rated that or Quicktime much and used to prefer almost anything else to those two.

Hi Glen,
I use Audacity. I have found that the sound reproduction is equal or better than stock media players, (I've tried a few), & it also has a number of advantages.
Drag a file from a folder to Audacity & it won't start until you click play.
Interface is customisable so you can omit what you don't need.
Actions, e.g. Play pause, stop, volume increase/decrease etc can be controlled/actioned by the keyboard (programmable)
The actions can be controlled using foot switches, using an old game pad or, as I use, a BU0836 Precision Joystick Controller. Both combined with the "JoyToKey" interface. Sounds technical but it's not too bad to set up.
I have Play/pause: Pause: Volume increase: Volume decrease
Regards
Darryl

Hi Glen,
I now use an Android Tablet with and App called Songer Pro which also allows for lyrics, however, for many years prior to that I use Windows in all forms and iTunes. Why iTunes?
As long as you have all tracks "un-ticked" you can create a playlist and the tune will stop when finished. you can then go on to the next tune whether it's net on the list or not.
Each tune can be individually set with it's own EQ, and saved for ever, and adjusted for volume.
You can select which fields to display. I put my setup details, Patch number etc., into the Artist Field in the track details for each track.
Good sound quality and simple to use.
It's FREEeeeeeeee!
Why did I change? It's much easier carting around a Tablet than a Notebook and much cheaper if it's damaged or stolen etc.
Cheers, Chinga

I downloaded this after a recommendation, and found it excellent. Among other things it levels out the volume of all the tracks loaded. www.virtualdj.com/It's free, so it's worth a try, Len

Hi Glen, I also prefer Winamp and you can even download a great, free plugin for it called "Pacemaker" here: Once installed it, you can change the tempo and/or pitch and/or speed of the player and have the settings memorized for each individual song. (The important thing is, that if you want to make sure that these settings will always work, once you included a song in these settings, you should not change the name of the file or the folder nor move the files somewhere else otherwise the tune will loose its settings.) The free version has a tiny annoying feature, time to time it keeps reminding you for that you're using the free version and ought to buy the paying version. If you'd use it a lot, I'd buy/register the plugin without hesitation (6 euros). But test it 1st to see if it suits your needs. Geza

WinAmp is by far the best and easiest. There is a plugin called Pacemaker as well so you can slow down, and change the pitch your tracks. Built in EQ. Create and save your own playlists in any order to recall at any time. Change the reading font for us old 'uns. You might have to hunt a bit for it as it is not supported anymore but still works fine on Windows 7 onwards.
