Hi All
Some of you may remember the big gretsch debate from a few years ago, it has been pretty much put to bed now and many people get close to that sound using strats etc so we can safely assume it was the strat however just noticed BurnsErnst latest sound file, listen to the sound on that Gretsch.....

The Gretsch is a lovely guitar to play any tune on but it does do a remarkably good Shadows sound. I recorded Apache on my Country Gentleman some years ago and it sounded really good. Great track good backing and a nice sound what more could you want. If the video does not work, here is the link to youtube. Thats how i watched it. www.youtube.com/watch?v=DQql4RdhxyQ&feature=player_embeddedAlan

Just my two penn'orth - great playing from Ernst, as always, but it still "sounds" like a Gretsch - to me anyway. Ian

I have to agree with Ian - it's a beautiful sound for sure and really well played - but it is distinctly Gretsch, especially on the higher registers...

I wouldn't mind getting one of these electromatics to get the early George sound, it has filtertron mini humbuckers, Georges first Gretsch had single coils, where as his country Gent had filtertrons, I actually prefer the filtertron sound www.youtube.com/watch?v=XCsmSrmR3u0Matthew

This guy really does produce some great video recordings what ever guitar he uses. The Gretsch he used in this one certainly compliments this tune, also I would like to mention the very good BT used in this recording made by another good guitarist a lot of you might know Johandegryze
