Just had a quick look, the ones I saw were none Strat but I'm sure there's Strat-like ones there, whether they are Alan Brason type ie early Strats, also with top class Birds eye Maple etc???

About five years ago I had a Jazz Master body and neck made by Musikraft in America. Their workmanship is excellent and they have a good selection of wood. They have three grades of Birds Eye Maple for example. They are licensed by Fender. I was very satisfied by the quality of their workmanship. A week ago I ordered an AA Birds Eye Maple neck from them for my Japanese Strat style guitar. They have so many options available so you can really get a customised item. As a matter of interest the neck with a compound radius and AA BE Maple cost around £340 including courier delivery USA to Japan. Regards Dave

Hi Steve....try Pete Allen in Warwick www.guitartechnicalservices.co.uk/index.htmlHe was foreman at Patrick Eggle guitars when they were based at Coventry........A bit of a geek but that's no bad thing when you're looking for high quality attention to detail. Baz

Steve,
I have a Chinese Squier Strat Sunburst, the build is very good, a bit lighter than the norm probably due to the wood, I had to change the pickups tp CS 57/62 as the ones fitted were too thin sounding, by the way, I bought the guitar originally for midi.

Maybe you will like to have a look at precbsguitars.com/. Dominick is an English luthier that builds the most amazing replicas of 61´s strats. He is now using forty years old wood which is an important added value.

Hi Pancho, thats an interesting site. The replicas look the same as the originals even down to details. How would you tell them apart though, even the necks are stamped period correct. $5500 for a replica seems a lot but the real thing is $20,000 plus!

I know he is expensive but I do know that right now is a moment to get a really good price. Write to Dominick and get a good deal.

I've had a quick read and these look excellent, very compatible with my 62 and 63!
I couldn't see what pickups they use...probable over looked it?

I want to do 2 questions for which I have no answer for my inexperience. Why buy a replica that I have understood that they are more expensive than the original ?. Why buy a Chinese guitar to change the pickups and hardware ?. Is not it more expensive ?.
My guitar is Korean and I want to buy a Fender. I am grateful in advance.

Hi Antonio, An original is far more expensive than a replica, like all vintage/antique stuff, it's down to who will pay what for it, also, because it's vintage doesn't mean it will sound better, there's good and bad. My Chinese Strat as I mentioned was bought for midi, it was cheap, because the sound of the guitar has no effect on what is picked up by the midi pickup, but playing midi with a guitar is a little different than with a keyboard so I took the pickup off. About the same time, there was a debate going on about a Shadows tune where Hank could have used neck and bridge pickups together, so rather than add a switch to my oldies I fitted one to the cheapy Strat, but to get a good comparison the pickups had to be changed.......that's why someone buys a Chinese guitar and changes the pickups Phil

The Pre Cbs Guitar Strat actually works out at around £5348 including delivery and import duty/Vat, I know for another original 1962 re-finished Strat fo £6,000...the real thing

Hi Phil I suppose that isnt too bad really when you consider the price of a custom shop fender etc. My only concern is how do you know if you have the real thing if these are on the market? Imagine paying £10k plus and finding out it was one of these?

There was a very early Tele in Cranes priced at £24k, Joe Bonamassa recognised it as a fake when he was there and new the guy that made it!

Hi Steve, Have a look at Ron Kirn Signature Guitars. Fastidious workmanship and very, very reasonable prices. www.ronkirn.com. Whatever you choose good luck. Cheers,
