Just casually thinking about a shed in the garden as a music room. Thinking around 10' x 8'.
No definate plans, but wondered if anyone has done it and, if so, what are the pros, cons and pitfalls.
Tim.

Hi Tim,
Depends what kinda shed....brick or wood or a combination of both. Apart of the kind of sound isolation/proof you make it(think the next doors) , the biggest cons is the moisture you can have to deal with.
Cheers Rob

I was thinking of wood. I have had a look at a few model railway site where they built sheds to some ideas about insulation and soundproofing.

condensation, dampness, keeping it warm and dry, sound proofing it, security. they are some of the main points to look to when starting that project. its a great idea and very practical but needs careful planning before hand if its going to work. good luck. peter

I built a 12"x 8" in my garden as my garden is 150 feet in an "L" shape 75ft and 75ft. Built it on paving slabs....with 4 by 4 timber floor...covered with 50mm attic floorboards.Timber frame 4x4. External half inch ply walls. Inside is insulated with loft insulation on four walls, with 3/4 inch wallboards.Virtually sound proof,a little noise from door and window but good enough to run my AC30 at very high volume. The only thing IS security,I DO take amps and other equipment out at night.
