You are so right Gent's. That cheap looking bottle of soapy liquid by his sink will do his guitar no good at all.
I always use Fairy liquid for a smear free finish........

Word of warning, I used to polish the body of my Fenders with furniture polish to remove all the smears and finger marks but it became dangerously slippery, one slipped out of my hand but luckily landed on the couch so no harm done, but it could have easily been over a hard floor, be careful.

You should never use polish with silicone in it, many furniture polishes have it in, if you ever need to repaint it will kill the Finnish.

I have used "Meguiar's Fender Instrument Care Kit" for many years now, brilliant product, but unfortunately it is now discontinued. I would think the equivalent Meguiar's product would be suitable. Cheers Jim

I use Meguiar's cleaner wax for cars. Any good auto wax should be fine.
