I know guitar hoarding is a common illness haha, but I was wondering home many amp hoarders are on here? I have 4 at the moment 2 AC 30s the first Chinese one which is different to the current one I also have, a Blackstar HT 50 head and cab that I'm thinking of selling and getting something that isn't as load at home, and a Boss Katana which I got a couple of months ago. good to know there is a therapy group haha www.youtube.com/watch?v=_G0kHBPUm3UMatthew

Matthew,
Only got 2 amps, a VOX VT20+ which I love, great amp with so many tones. I also have a VOX DA-5 which I use for quick practices.
I must admit though, I quite fancy a Marshall Code 25.
Tim.

Hello Matthew, it's interesting that you should raise the issue of amp hoarding now, because my daughter had a clear out of her garage last week and returned one of my old amps to me.
The amp in question is an H/H VS Musician head, together with an old Sound City 1 x 12 pa cab that has an H/H 12 inch 8 ohm 100w speaker installed in it. Before the amp was mothballed I replaced the slightly worn knobs with brand new ones that I had bought from H/H, so it still looks the business.
I haven't tried it out again yet so it is sitting in the middle of our dinning room. I am recovering from a bit of re-plumbing at present so I can't hump it about, but I am looking forward to seeing the front panel light up green again and trying it out with my Hall and Collins signature echo.
These amps produce a very clean clinical sound, which is why they fell out of favour. However transistor amps are coming back into vogue and I am sure The H&CSE with its tube sounding technology will work wonders.
Cheers,
Mick

Wow Rob 10 amps that is a few. I just ran my Hall & Collins into my Boss Katana, and it sounded impressive. Really responded like a tube amp Matthew

It's no good Matthew, after reflecting on Rob's post I've got to come clean. I now have the following amps:-
Vox AC15 C1 now with an Alnico Blue speaker Vox AC15 CC1 now with an Alnico Blue speaker (bright cap mod and reverb knob converted to tone cut)
These two form the basic rig and I find that for the most part I only really need to use one amp with the other being left in the boot - just in case. The days of the hair straighteners are over. Audiences don't want to be deafened by a Music man 2x12 150watt or a Fender twin reverb these days, which is why they had to go. Besides I could hardly pick them up to put them in the boot of my car!
Others I have are:-
H/H VS Musician with "valve sound" and pedal that lights up when this is selected. Orange Tiny Terror Peavey 112 Studio
Now, none of these are essential, just take up space and are only used from time to time. Why do I keep them? "Because I can" , to quote a famous player.
Just two more to own up to, a Bose L1 for solo backing track gigs and a Line 6 Low down 10 for my bass.
There I've owned up. Just wish I could claim an amp for every situation.
Wait a minute- yes I can! In the event I want to play with crunch or dirty well I've got the appropriate amps
So, I fully concur with Rob and fully endorse his comment - " Hoarding.....nope, just an amp for every situation
Cheers
Mick
