Why would you want to remove perfectly good and in working order pots, switch and even the wiring (!) from your guitar to replace them with CTS ones. And surely wire is wire? What noticeable tonal benefit will fill my ears with its hitherto missing beauty? Just interested. Ian

Ian I wouldn't change pots or wiring for the sake of it. However some Squiers would benefit from an upgrade including a better tremolo system mine did. George

Ian,
Upgrading wire and pots make a big difference.........to some people....Physicalogically.

Hi Ian, Wire is wire but two pieces of wire that are not electrically connected can act like a capacitor if they are too close to each other. This can be the case with thin insulation. Screened wire in Gibson guitars can also have a lot of capacitance. Some people think small pots can have more capacitance, maybe in some cases but I'm not sure. Regards, Charlie

Ian,
Possibly if the pots don't work as they should.
I know the volume pots on my Tanglewood 335 copy only seem to reduce volume over the last 10% of travel. I would love to change them, but having seen whats involved on a 335 type guitar, have decided I can live with it.
Tim.

Hi Tim, That's the nature of "Taper" (or "Logarithmic") pots versus "linear" pots which will give an even increase/reduction throughout the turn. Kind regards, Chris
