Thanks guys for your replies - Just over a year since I bought the body but so glad I did. It was nice to meet Alan in person and always amazed at the fine necks he produces and fantastic spray jobs.
Cheers Phil

I asked him to build me a guitar some time ago but as you said Phil, he was retiring and didn't want to take any more work on!
The other option for you if he couldn't do yours was to find a vintage neck and parts, but that would take time, espectially the neck...and would be quite expensive!

A really outstandingly looking guitar it just adds a lot more to it having it made to your own custom requirements if it plays and sounds as good as it looks you will have a absolute gem of a Telecaster in the hands of the maestro.

Thanks Phil & Pete - Yes I've had my name down for about 2 years for something to be made and when I won the Tele body at the auction I thought that was ideal as I didn't need a 4th Strat ! lol My new bridge pickup arrived today and I've just put it on - sounds great ! I'll do Demo next week... Cheers Phil

Wow - what a beautiful instrument! I love the telecaster - completely indestructible! You just know it's going to sound great! I was a bit sceptical at first about the sunburst and gold hardware - but it all looks completely perfect! Especially that neck.
One question though Phil - how is it that it can be called a Fender Telecaster? Is it legal to put the Fender decal on the headstock when it is not made by them?
Best,
Tony.

Phil, a real beauty indeed. If it sounds like it looks, your in for a real tread!!
Tony, on this site alone there are members with more look-a-like HMB CS guitars with Fender decals, as original genuines where build... As a owner of all originals, I had to learn to turn a blind eye because, it's swimming against the stream..... To be honest lots of fake's are build and sounding in the same league as originals and a few are even beter, so it's only very wrong to sell a replica as original....
Cheers Rob

It's only half illegal as the body is Fender Phil

One question though Phil - how is it that it can be called a Fender Telecaster? Is it legal to put the Fender decal on the headstock when it is not made by them? Best, Tony. Hi Tony, Yes if a certain % of the guitar is genuine Fender then you are allowed to use a Fender decal. I forget the exact % figure but I know if the body is Fender that covers it. If Alan makes a guitar from scratch then he never puts the Fender logo on - For example the Strat he made for me in 2003 Athough lots of parts were Fender not enough % was original Fender so he wouldn't put the logo on. I did it myself on top of the laquer. The problem only arises is you try and sell on the guitar as a Fender when it clearly is not. The colour of the neck I got from Robby in Aus - I loved that colour and sent the video of him playing Alfie to Alan Brason and said that's the colour I would like for the Tele. At the time I thoght it was a Fender and later found out that it was one of Alan's necks that he shipped out to Aus! So he was very familier with the colour. All the best.. Phil

Hi Phil, I don't mind at all if people re-brand a guitar with a Fender decal....as I wrote, only when they try to rip off people with a replica...that's not right. I was aware of the % original parts and the Fender decal, like you I forgot the exact amount % of parts is a minimum.... As long it's not like this is my granddads hamer, I just replaced the head 2 times and it's on it's 3e grip Cheers Rob

Note that Fender don't supply their decals to anyone else -- so the decal itself is almost certainly a copy/fake. That means copyright is being breached.

Hi Dave,
If you can proof your damaged guitar/decal is a genuine Fender your repairman can order a new decal ....

Apologies Phil - I didn't mean to start a fire - was just interested in how it worked - perhaps it was licensed etc...
For what it's worth - I have 6 Strats and two Tele's - amongst them 4 CS guitars - and I have swapped out the pups in all of them - so probably the same thing in reality.
What really matters is that the guitar is a real work of art and that neck is to die for - goes to show that all of the best things come from Newcastle :-)

Thats OK Tony:-)- It's not the first time this has come up for discussion and wont be the last. Lol Now 6 Strats and 2 Tele's !! - Good evidence to show the wife that I need a few more.
I agree all the best things come from Newcastle !!

Thanks Kevin, Istvan & Steve for your replies. Alan is still going to do small jobs like re-frets, repairs Trem Mods etc just no more major jobs.
Just uploaded a demo of the Telecaster in the Sound files :-)
Cheers Phil
