As the title says, what’s the best, correct, way to play doublestops?
Do you strum both strings with the pick, pick one with pick and other with fingers or use two fingers, possibly fingers 2 and 3 if still holding a pick to play them together.
Thanks, Tim.

Hi Tim
There isn't one correct way. If you want the lower string to sound slightly after the higher string (eg. The Rumble), then use an upstroke. If you want the lower string to sound before the higher string, then use a down stroke (think of Sleepwalk). If you want both strings to sound simultaneously, (think of Tokyo Guitar) then use hybrid picking as you describe yourself. If you use fingers, then you will achieve a more mellow sound. If you use pick and finger, then it will be a bit brighter in terms of attack. Consequently, the decision of what to do is dictated by what you want to achieve. There isn't one correct way.
regards
Michael

Hi Tim, an ideal Instro to play for double stops is, Theme from a summer place and its not too difficult a tune to get to grips with, at the end of each verse, a double stop. cheers Pete
