I've used www.stringbusters.com for years to supply my guitar strings. I ordered a couple of sets on 17th June and paid with paypal. The strings normally arrive the next working day - but these didn't. I tried ringing them several times but get no answer, tried emailing but no response. So I've taken out a paypal dispute in order to get the money refunded. Has anyone else had any recent problems with them ? Thanks Phil

UPDATE - Paypal refunded my money because they had no response from Stringbusters. Looks like Stringbusters have gone Bust.. But why is their website allowed to stay open Re-ordered my Elixir Optiweb strings 11-49 from Stringsdirect for the same price and if the order is over £30 you get free shipping. Phil

I always use Stringsdirect, top firm. I had a 'dead' sounding low E in one set, I phoned them and they put one in the post which I received next day.

Phil,
Mine need changing at the moment. I’ve always used Ernie Ball, but I only have to look at the strings and they start to corrode. How do you find the Elixir’s?
Tim

I buy from the States from “Strings By Mail” I usually don’t have to pay duties in Japan if items arrive by post instead of courier. For example ten sets of D’Addario pure nickel 11-48 will cost $5:63 £4:29 each and postage is around $5. I looked at Strings Direct from the link above and one pack of the same strings is listed at £9:99 Dave

I`ve been using Elixir`s for quite some time now. The cheapest place I can find them here in Aus is on the well known auction site. There are cheaper brands around and I haven't tried all of them but I don`t mind paying a little bit extra for these because I`ve found that they do last longer. Regards Adrian

Yes Baz my order from Stringsdirect came next day ! they seem a great firm. TIM - I've been using Elixir Nano web for at least 15 years. They are great strings don't go rusty and always sound bright. I tend to keep them on until they start fraying which is well over a year. This time I've gone for the new Optiweb 11-49 @ £1 more than nano web's they have the thinnest coating to date so will give them a try out. Cheers Phil

I have used Stringsdirect for a few years now and not just for strings. Brilliant service and rapid delivery.
I use D’Addario Chromes 13-56 and have never had rust problems with them.
Cheers Jim

Cheers Phil How`s it going Phil I`ll be due for some new strings soon and I`ve been thinking about the Optiwebs so I would be interested to hear your opinion of them. I`ve been looking around online and people are saying that they`re a bit brighter than the Nanowebs. Cheers Adrian

Hi Adrian, Yes I agree with that comment they do sound a bit brighter than the nanowebs. I haven't made a recording with them yet but will do soon. Yes I'm very impressed with the sound. Cheers Phil

I've been using Optiwebs for 12 mths or so and the sound is a little brighter and the feel not as slippery as the Nanowebs. Have to be a little more careful with avoiding string squeak when it is not wanted.
cheers George

Thanks George. I normally buy several sets at a time but I think I`ll get just one set to try them out. Good to hear from you, hope you`re well.
Cheers
