The G5 has a volume pedal that moves side to side as well as up and down. It also has a valve to provide "warmth" to the sound and is controlled by a foot switch That is all I am aware of as a "simplistic" user

I have both but since getting the H&C unit I now only use the G3. If you don't have an H&C the G5 with *** Hall's patches is fine.

Mmh - I tried a G3X with RH patches and (IMO ONLY) found them wanting. I went back to my old Q2EFTP. Ian

Thanks Phil I have the hall and Collins and a growing collection of zoom units i wondered weather their amp sims had improved, until Charlie’s new project is ready I like the ease of just pluging in one lead and headphones or recorder . And it’s a GAS thing lol

As you could have guessed I got the G5 Couldn’t resist Now what patches to use ? *** or Art de echo I know rosses are good but at half the price I’m tempted to try the cheaper option I can’t find that many comparisons.

Mick, naming art de echo here is like cursing in church If the G5 patches are the same quality as the G3 versions...I've compared both...*** is twice the price, but more then twice better. The bloke behind Art de echo is a con man and is dealing in pirated eftp too, so I wouldn't want to help him building his income... Just my 2p Cheers Rob

Why do you need any more echo pedals when you've got a Hall & Collins Mick? If you want a G5 then it's a great unit, but I wouldn't bother lashing out for a set of echoes that are no match for the H&C.

*** echo patches are by far the best. I've tried both lots and side by side there is no competition.
Problem is there is no one unit that can do everything. The sound of the hall and Collins in the g3x would be great for me

I'm with Steve, about the G3x! Although the postman handed me 3 H&CSE in total...I use my G3x with *** patches regularly. It's very versatile device...I use it also for "the other sounds"...When I play Brothers In Arms or some Mike Oldfield I use the patches I made myself for these tunes. I use a G2.1u(x)(with genuine eftp) on my pedal-board for backup for the H&CSE and for the octave below at the end of Crockett's Theme. So the older Zoom units are still in use and they sound still great! The G3x sounds great as stand alone when the punters in the pub couldn't care less what you use on stage.
Cheers Rob

When I just want to use headphones and not get all the gear out it’s just something to plug and play really. I’ve tried setting up and leaving my equipment in a way in which I can easily switch on and play but that doesn’t go down well when the other half looks at all the cables, I’ve tried trading her in but no takers as yet but fingers crossed you never know LOL

Would really appreciate if someone could send the zoom G3 amp simulator settings ONLY for the Vox amp and the Fender twin reverb only? I find the vox amp more powerful than the fender twin reverb amp hence both amp will have different settings . please help.
