Hi Chazbear,
Welcome to the group. I don't think Ironstones will be any improvement on your Wilkinson pickups, they're both Alnico 5. Are you after emulating the Shadows', particularly Hank Marvin's, sound? Ironstones will bring you close to that but I suspect the Wilkinsons will too. There are plenty of other variables to the sound before you get to change your pickups - string guage, echo unit, not to mention the Katana. Have you tried Sneaky Amps?
Best of luck in your quest,
Len

I bought a Boss Katana 50 Mk II a couple of weeks ago and had no trouble with the drivers on my main computer, which is Windows 10, or on my second one, Windows 8. I did have some trouble with the Tone Studio refusing to recognise the amp connection, and after some online research came across the VGuitar forum, where I discovered that I had to update the amp's firmware - updating a brand new amp!
I've installed the Sneaky Amps, but I haven't used them yet, I've been breaking the speaker in, but I'm looking forward to it, there are some great models in the list.

I installed a set of Ironstone Golds (alico3). in a Mexican Strat and was amazed how good they were, its a while now and they cost £30 for the three, FAR better than the stock Mexican pups, and gave a good shadows sound, but of course everything else has to line up in conjunction with the pups to achieve a significant improvement.
regards, frank.

Hi
I've got the Ironstone Golds, Platinums-and the hybrids. All good, but my favourites are the hybrids for balance across all strings. And Tony, the guy that runs Ironstone is very helpful, knowledgable-and an engineer with a good knowledge of physics. Highly recommended!
