I quite liked the version by Nena although I think it demonstrates perfectly why the German and Austrian composers were so good at writing purely classical orchestral music but were not very good as lyricists, unlike those who wrote their music in either the English or French languages

Cor!! This has caused a stir. Well here’s my two pennerth.
I thought Marlene sounded like she always has done. She sounds like an actress that sings from time to time in her own very recognisable style ..............that may not be to every ones taste. The acting stars that sang in the muma Mia film couldn’t sing that great either. But again, they are actors.
The singer in the youtube item David put up wasn’t to everyone's taste either. Yet despite his homicidal attempts Bruce’s great tune held its own.
Cheers
Mick

hi shadfans , well surprise surprise ! I saw this and was prepared to call it really awful ,but I actually found that I quite liked it which was a big surprise to myself . marlenes voice quite suited the arrangement and made it sound like a song from the 40s.would be interesting to take her off it and try it as a backing track ?any thoughts ? (apart from whats this guy on ) !!!!
