Hello Everyone, I am in the process of building an instrumental song list to perform. Being a Shadows fan, I am of course drawing from their extensive catalog of songs. I like to mix it up though and like a variety. Does anyone have any suggestions for instrumental songs to play? Songs that have been played as instrumentals before and maybe even songs that you think would be good to be played as instrumentals. For the love of melodies Cheers, David

Hi David, Hank Marvin's last album, Without a Song, had some excelent song covers, from 'Dont get around much anymore' to 'Alfie'. It might help you to look through the Sound Files section, some members here have done worthwhile covers of old Standards. Roger Dee's 'Summertime' comes to mind. And look on You Tube at Roger Paulsson. Apart from Shadows'covers he likes to play his own versions of melodic pop songs, new and old. Here's one of his that I posted a few years ago charliehall.proboards.com/thread/21604/mona-lisa. He also sells his BTs, he's listed in the BT providers (a sub-section of Sound Files). Also in this section there are two good providers of free BTs - Goran Tangring, who's tracks are mainly Shadows but he also covers some by the Spotniks (a Swedish instrumental group), and Buzzard Records for general pop. Hope this is some help. Good luck performing. Len

Hi there Dave, I like to play instrumentals, as my guitar playing is slightly better than my singing. Here are some of the numbers I play. Lately I have been engaged to play 2 hour sets which taxes my memory somewhat.
Killing me softly, Blue Moon, Perfidia, Sanfransisco, Bay Blues, Every Breath, Last Date, Epanema, Mountain of Love, Guitar Boogie, Take 5.
Then the Shadows evergreens like Atlantis, Apache' Wonderful Land, Theme for young lovers, Dance on, Sleepwalk, Foot Tapper, Walk don't run, Shindig, Pipeline, FBI, Nivram, Fingle Bunt. I throw in a few of my own occasionally.
I get kick out of playing these , and I'm sure you will also , whatever you choose to play.
Good luck, regards Rob

Hi David, You can do a lot worse than a selection of Beatles, Carpenters, Abba etc. songs, they are known to a good range of ages which helps with varied audiences.
Kind regards,
Chris

I’ve always thought so but can’t be certain I’ve always wanted to have a go at it but someone would have to do a backing track
