The site rules include the following section which has existed without alteration for quite some time, please note this is why some posts have had to be deleted recently as another member had complained about them:
* General discussions should be about guitars or related equipment or guitar players. It is not a fan club type site and guitars and related equipment and players of all styles can be discussed. Sidetracking from a main subject will be tolerated provided that the thread does not stray too far from the original theme. Please refrain from posting about political or religious issues and keep only to light hearted subjects that cannot cause offence to others.
I am posting this not so much because of the above mentioned posts but because of another post I just deleted which complained of the deletions. Quite honestly I am getting fed up with dealing with people who don't respect me or the site rules and I am nearly considering pulling the plug on the whole thing.
Charlie

Hi Charlie. I can understand your frustration. I imagine newer members or some guests might not fully understand the true nature of your site. I would respectfully ask you not to “Pull the plug” I check your site AM and PM and over the years I have learnt so much. I have also appreciated your replies to some of my questions. Dave

Hello Charlie, I do not post very often and can understand your frustration with unwanted posts. I check the site on a daily basis and have gained a great deal of knowledge from it along with info re the Hall and Collins Echo. Take care. Geoff

good morning Charlie, I guess in this day and age it is inevitable that issues like this arise...I got to say I have been more that a little surprise at the content of some recent posts, and as a consequence realize , they my offend. I guess that's the nature of a open site. in my humble opinion, please do not let these silly comments be the catalyst to end one of the best , and most informative forums on the net. please Charlie,do keep this family going...……..and I suppose you do have the magic of the delete button at your disposal where necessary. for me ch&f is a regular, daily check-in point which would be greatly missed...………...hang on in there Charlie
regards les

I totally agree with your actions Charlie and for reminding us of the rules. As others have said this site provides so much information about all kinds of music related subjects not just guitars and guitarists for which I and I'm sure all members appreciate. For me it is a fantastic learning resource and occasionally I chirp in with the little knowledge I have, most of which is gained here As previous posters have said please, please keep this wonderful and informative site going. Having brought to our attention the problem I'm sure all will take notice and respect the rules and your wishes. Regards, Tim.

Hi Charlie, I too was more than a little surprised to see some of the post in the past few days. I am not prude, I spent 26 years in the Armed Forces and can be as crude as anybody can be, but there is a place for things and I agree it is not on here.
Charlie, please don't pull the plug. Block the offenders if need be. There are far too many members that support you 100% too punish them for the few idiots.
warmest regards
Roger

Hi Charlie. I totally agree with all of the above posts, I can remember I initially came across this forum purely by mistake and that was the best mistake I ever made. At the time, I had just bought a guitar and I knew absolutely nothing about guitars or playing them, I didn`t even know what the pickup selector switch was for except that it sounded different in each position. Fast forward to now and I am currently in the process of building a parts caster and everything that I`ve learned and am still learning has come from the members here just by asking questions and getting advice. I can understand your frustration Charlie I was also a bit puzzled by those threads but it would be a very sad day if we were to lose this forum. If people could just take a moment and have a good look at what they`re about to post, things like that probably wouldn`t end up on here.
Regards
Adrian

Hi Charlie,
Please don't pull the plug on this wonderful site. I find it a save haven, without argo and ego and without peeps who like standing in the limelight to get their "look how good I'm mood" polished... It would be a tremendous loss, after about 30 years.... not to have my daily dose of shadows loony bin type of communication especially in this difficult times.
Cheers Rob

Hi Charlie! Of course, I understand that some communication meant to be funny causes displeasure in many people. Deleting them should not be a matter of debate. In these difficult days, it’s sometimes good to laugh as well. Unfortunately, there is no section where these can be published for those who are interested. I understand that you don’t want to argue with people, it’s hard to do good to people. There have been hard days and there will be, but beautiful music is eternal, with your tremendous help. Regards istvan

Hi Charlie,
I’m sure you recognise that in general there was no intent to disrespect you or flout the site rules, if I understand you correctly the problem was with the complaint over deletion and the particular mail it related to, which is perfectly understandable. As someone who contributed to one of the other threads, I too didn’t see the humour in it and found it quite distasteful, the deletion was fully justified in my opinion.
The lockdown and implications for a lot of people (probably yourself included) has caused unprecedented levels of concern and uncertainty, for many the banter and humour was an attempt to lighten the load and hopefully put a smile on faces. For the best part most were more suggestive/subtle innuendo based and carried an underlying message of staying safe.
If you feel that people like myself were responsible in anyway for deviating from the values and objectives you set out, I personally very much regret this as the intention was be responsive in these times of need and hopefully encourage site visitors. I believe the viewing figures for that thread were close to 600, there were many likes and as far I am aware no complaints, although the heading possibly raised a few eyebrows?
For my part I wish only to support and keep alive as much as possible the things which I have come to value over the years, that includes my daily visits to this website and contributing where I can to the community. I believe that most posters stuck to the one thread so as not to intrude and annoy others, but freely admit that perhaps this particular banter had been over played (to be honest I was having fun and it was difficult to resist)!
Generally speaking, I tend to avoid getting involved in a lot of frivolous banter and disputes which adds nothing to the common good, so maybe I can seek a little redemption on this occasion?
I trust you and yours will be well and safe until we are on the other side of this dreadful ordeal!
Best wishes
Gary

I wasn't aware of the site being down. You will probably be pleased to know I have for the moment got over the idea of pulling the site. A better idea however if this sort of thing happens again might be to disable all postings from all members so the site would effectively become a point of reference for members. I could then choose whether to re-instate postings at a suitable time. Regards, Charlie

Hi Charlie, Maybe an idea.... is it possible to disable the postings of only the peeps who go off the rails in the future? So the die hard fans on this site, who behave themself (and support this site for the good part of 20+ years) on the boards... are not being hanged to dry so to speak... I can't tell, what a sick making experience it was when I couldn't go on this site, just the other day.
Any news of EF86 or is it on hold because of the "lockdown"?
Cheers Rob

Hi Rob, It is possible to disable postings of individual members but I have only rarely done that. I can imagine the feeling when you couldn't access the site. The factory has slowed right down because of the current situation. Unfortunately this is going to delay the release of the unit. Regards, Charlie
